You will serve as a LEGAL ASSISTANT in the Navy Reserve Region of NAVREG MIDATLANTIC RESCOMPCMD. ***Term appointments may be extended up to 8 years at the discretion of management and in accordance with applicable regulations. Additionally, you may be noncompetitively converted to a permanent career-conditional or career appointment under specific conditions. ***

Duties

You will monitor the progress of all phases of administrative discharge cases to assure compliance with processing time goals. You will review all necessary documentation for the administrative discharge letters and boards when required, and draft the Commanding Officer's recommendation as to the ultimate case disposition. You will answer office calls, determining the nature of request and direct callers to appropriate staff.

Requirements

  • This position requires the ability to type at least 40 words per minute. Your response to the typing skill question on the Occupational Questionnaire will be used in your qualification determination.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-06 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Experience assisting the assigned Judge Advocate General Attorneys and the day-to-day management of administrative matters. Experience coordinating and processing Administrative Separation and non-judicial punishments. Experience preparing legal documents. Experience conducting research into complex legal issues.
