Duties
Utilize the Automated Installation Entry (AIE) system in order to enroll personnel into the system for the vetting and printing of visitor passes/badges.
Screen vehicle and pedestrian traffic at the Installation Access Control Point (IACP) for safety and security checks.
Verify identification through use of identification cards, badges, biometrics, automated records, vehicle decals, verbal questioning, and other means; allowing entrance to persons and vehicles that display proper authorization.
Perform security duties in accordance with appropriate regulations to detect and prevent theft, damage, accident, trespass, sabotage, and espionage, and to enforce the security regulations of the installation.
Requirements
- This position requires the incumbent to obtain and maintain a Secret Security Clearance (ANACI-T3).
- This position requires the incumbent to obtain and sustain state certification for operating the NCIC terminals.
- Incumbent must meet requirements for the Individual Reliability Program.
- This position is a drug testing position.
- This position required shift work or a change in shift if necessary. Hours of work encompass fluctuating tours of duty to include evenings, nights, weekends and holidays. Overtime may be required as directed for periods of emergency overtime.
- Incumbent must be proficient in the use of assigned fire arms.
- Incumbent must undergo and pass annual medical exams of physical, emotional and mental stability IAW AR 190-56.
- Incumbent must successfully complete security guard training.
- Incumbent must be trained and maintain current required certifications in CPR techniques and must know first aid. May act as a first responder in a medical emergency.
- Incumbent may be required to wear chemical protection masks, gloves, and other protective equipment, and may be required to be certified in the use of aerosol irritants and baton
- Incumbent must be fully qualified to operate a government vehicle. Must possess and maintain a valid state driver’s license. Loss of license may result in removal from the position.
- Incumbent must wear the Department of the Army Security Guard (DASG) uniform IAW AR 190-56, maintain a high state of appearance and hygiene.
- Incumbent must obtain and maintain applicable certifications in operating various electronic equipment and sensors.
- Incumbent may not have any medical condition that precludes the wearing of a chemical protective mask and over garments.
- Position requires the incumbent to perform as a member of the installations' overall security response capability.
- Must meet the requirements under the Lautenberg Amendment/Domestic Violence misdemeanor Amendment to the Gun Control Act of 1968.

Specialized experience is defined as work with a Federal, State, Municipal, Local, or Private protective organization that involved the protection of property against such hazards as fire, theft, damage, accident, trespass, maintain order and protecting life. Such experience must demonstrate knowledge of munitions, protective systems and techniques. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service GS-05.

This position is subject to an initial drug screening, and random testing thereafter. A negative drug test result must be received by human resources within 30 calendar days after the Entrance on Duty (i.e., start date). The selectee's inability to successfully pass; or refusal to conduct the test may result in 1) the tentative or final job offer being withdrawn during the recruitment process; or 2) subsequently being removed from Federal service for failure to meet a condition of employment.
