The CDC utilize Direct Hire Authority to fill vacancies in a variety of occupations. The vacancy is a REPOSITORY of applications.

Qualifications
Basic Qualifications
Biologist
Degree: biological sciences, agriculture, natural resource management, chemistry, or related disciplines appropriate to the position OR
Combination of education & experience: Courses equivalent to a major, as above, plus appropriate experience or additional education
Microbiologist
Degree: microbiology; or biology, chemistry, or basic medical science that included at least 20 semester hours in microbiology & other subjects related to the study of microorganisms, & 20 semester hours in the physical & mathematical sciences combining course work in organic chemistry or biochemistry, physics, & college algebra, or their equivalent OR
Combination of education & experience: courses equivalent to a major in microbiology, biology, chemistry, or basic medical science that included courses as above, plus appropriate experience or additional education.
GS-9 positions that involve a substantial amount of work in a specific specialized area or applied field of microbiology, at least 6 months of the experience must either have been in the appropriate area of specialization or applied field of microbiology or have direct application in the area for which the applicant is being considered.
GS-11 & higher grades of specialized positions, experience must have been sufficiently specialized to ensure adequate familiarity with the area of specialization or applied field of microbiology or have direct application in the area for which the applicant is being considered.
Health Scientist & Epidemiologist
Degree: Bachelor's or graduate/higher level degree: major study in an academic field related to the medical field, health sciences or allied sciences appropriate to the work of the position.
Operations Research Analyst
Degree: in operations research; or at least 24 semester hours in a combination of operations research, mathematics, probability, statistics, mathematical logic, science, or subject-matter courses requiring substantial competence in college-level mathematics or statistics. At least 3 of the 24 semester hours must have been in calculus
Mathematical Statistician
Degree: that included 24 semester hours of mathematics & statistics, of which at least 12 semester hours were in mathematics & 6 semester hours were in statistics OR
Combination of education & experience: at least 24 semester hours of mathematics & statistics, including at least 12 hours in mathematics & 6 hours in statistics plus appropriate experience or additional education
Statistician
Degree: that included 15 semester hours in statistics (or in mathematics & statistics, provided at least 6 semester hours were in statistics), & 9 additional semester hours in one or more of the following: physical or biological sciences, medicine, education, or engineering; or in the social sciences including demography, history, economics, social welfare, geography, international relations, social or cultural anthropology, health sociology, political science, public administration, psychology, etc. Credit toward meeting statistical course requirements is given for courses in which 50 percent of the course content appears to be statistical methods, e.g., courses that included studies in research methods in psychology or economics such as tests & measurements or business cycles, or courses in methods of processing mass statistical data such as tabulating methods or electronic data processing OR
Combination of education & experience: courses as above, plus appropriate experience or additional education. The experience should have included a full range of professional statistical work such as (a) sampling, (b) collecting, computing, & analyzing statistical data, & (c) applying statistical techniques such as measurement of central tendency, dispersion, skewness, sampling error, simple & multiple correlation, analysis of variance, & tests of significance
Computer Scientist
Degree: Bachelor's degree in computer science or bachelor's degree with 30 semester hours in a combination of mathematics, statistics, & computer science. At least 15 of the 30 semester hours must have included any combination of statistics & mathematics that included differential & integral calculus.
Data Scientist
Degree: Mathematics, statistics, computer science, data science or field directly related to the position. The degree must be in a major field of study (at least at baccalaureate level) that is appropriate for the position OR
Combination of education & experience: Courses equivalent to a major field of study (30 semester hours) as above, plus additional education or appropriate experience.
In addition to Basic Qualifications above, Minimum Qualifications must be met:
GS-7: At least 1 year of graduate-level education OR superior academic achievement (See Education section) OR 1 year of specialized experience (GS-5 equivalent) OR a combination of education & experience
GS-9: At least 2 years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to a master's degree or master's or equivalent graduate degree OR 1 year of specialized experience (GS-7 equivalent) OR a combination of education & experience
GS-11: At least 3 years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to a Ph.D. degree or Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree OR 1 year of specialized experience (GS-9 equivalent) OR a combination of education & experience
GS-12 & above: At least 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level
Physician
Degree: Doctor of Medicine, Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine or equivalent from a school in the United States or Canada. (See Education section)
Foreign Medical School: A Doctor of Medicine or equivalent degree from a foreign medical school must provide education & medical knowledge equivalent to accredited schools in the United States. (See Education section)
Licensure: Applicants must possess a current, active, full, & unrestricted license or registration as a Physician from a State, District of Columbia, Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States.
Graduate Training: Subsequent to obtaining a Doctor of Medicine or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree, must have at least 1 year of supervised experience providing direct service in a clinical setting, i.e., a 1-year internship or the first year of a residency program in a hospital or institution accredited for such training. Graduate training programs include only those internship, residency, & fellowship programs that are approved by accrediting bodies recognized within the United States or Canada.
Additional requirements for GS-12 & above:
GS-12: 2 years of graduate training in the specialty of the position to be filled or equivalent experience & training
GS-13: 3 years of graduate training in the specialty of the position to be filled or equivalent experience & training
GS-14: 4 years of graduate training in the specialty of the position to be filled or equivalent experience & training
GS-15: 4 years of graduate training in the specialty of the position to be filled or equivalent experience & training
Education
A copy of your transcripts or equivalent documentation is required for positions with an education requirement, or if you are qualifying based on education or a combination of education and experience. An official transcript will be required if you are selected.

You must show proof the education credentials have been deemed to be at least equivalent to that gained in conventional U.S. education program. Physician Education/Degree Requirements:
Superior Academic Achievement is based on (1) class standing, (2) grade-point average, or (3) honor society membership.
- Class standing -- Applicants must be in the upper third of the graduating class in the college, university, or major subdivision, such as the College of Liberal Arts or the School of Business Administration, based on completed courses.
- Grade-point average (G.P.A.) -- Applicants must have a grade-point average of:
- 3.0 or higher out of a possible 4.0 ("B" or better) as recorded on their official transcript, or as computed based on 4 years of education, or as computed based on courses completed during the final 2 years of the curriculum; or
- 3.5 or higher out of a possible 4.0 ("B+" or better) based on the average of the required courses completed in the major field or the required courses in the major field completed during the final 2years of the curriculum.
- Election to membership in a national scholastic honor society -- Applicants can be considered eligible based on membership in one of the national scholastic honor societies recognized by the Association of College Honor Societies. Membership in a freshman honor society cannot be used to meet the requirements of this provision.
