Duties
The DOL's mission is to foster, promote, and develop the welfare of the wage earners, job seekers, and retirees of the United States; improve working conditions; advance opportunities for profitable employment; and ensure work-related benefits and rights. This position serves as a Program Support Specialist assigned to any DOL organization.
Plans and conducts research and studies in support of Agency administrative and/or operational programs associated with major Agency functions, regulatory requirements, obligations, initiatives, and activities.
Prepares reports of findings and presents alternatives and recommendations to management with supporting rationale based on study findings.
Using a thorough understanding of the organization's goals, objectives, and regulatory responsibilities, the incumbent determines the quality of deliverables to customers and clients.
Recommends solutions to resolve complex administrative issues to ensure the most efficient and effective delivery of administrative support to various programs and operations.
Provides administrative support of an office or set of offices supporting Agency operations.
Provides guidance and direction with tracking and properly responding to requests for assistance from those seeking or inquiring about documents and documentation needed to support the assigned Agency or DOL mission and functions.
Serves as the point of contact on departmental and governmental rules, regulations, and processes related to administrative and support activities.
Provides budget and financial management support to the organization.
Serves as a key participant in Agency or organization special projects, as assigned.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Must be at least 16 years old.
- Must be a U.S. Citizen.
- Candidate required to obtain the necessary security/investigation level.
- Requires a probationary period if the requirement has not been met.
Qualifications
You must meet the Basic Requirements listed in the Education Requirements section and the Specialized Experience to qualify for Program Support Specialist, as described below.
For GS-11: Applicants must have 52 weeks of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level GS-09 in the Federal Service.
Specialized Experience is the experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities (KSA's) to perform the duties of the position successfully, and that is typically in or related to the position to be filled. To be creditable, specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the next lower grade level.
Qualifying education or experience for GS-11 includes:
Specialized Experience:
Experience in customer service for collaboration with clients, team members, or other stakeholders.
Experience in managing schedules for senior managerial or executive-level staff members.
Experience in maintaining goals for the organization.
Experience with commercial purchasing such as sourcing, requesting, and reconciling.
OR
Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree
OR
3 years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a Ph.D. degree or Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree, in a related field of study that demonstrated the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work;
OR
LL.M., if related.
