Duties

Joining the Customs and Border Protection Office of Information and Technology will allow you to use your expertise in managing acquisition/procurement requests and contract oversight with delegated authority. This position starts at a salary of $117,962.00 (GS-13, Step 1) to $153,354.00 (GS-13, Step 10) with promotion potential to $153,354 (GS-13 Step 10). In this Business Specialist position you will become a key team member of Homeland Security professionals initiating and conducting studies to improve the effectiveness of procurement and contract administration. Typical work assignments include: Ensuring each purchase request (PR) package includes Bill of Materials (BOM), Independent Government Cost Estimate (IGCE), Statement of Work (SOW), Performance Work Statements, Market Research Report, and Executive Summary. Working with Contracting Officers in obtaining contract awards once the requests are released to the Office of Acquisition Coordinating the procurement process timeline and monitors the period of performance. Serving as Contracting Officer's Representative Level II, manages contracts and approves invoice payment. Monitoring contracts activities, cost, and contractor performance to resolve day-to-day matters within the scope of the delegated authority.

Qualifications

Experience: You qualify for the GS-13 grade level if you possess 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level, performing duties such as: Maintaining COR certification and shall be proficient in COR Competencies through experience and training. Monitoring contract activities, cost, schedule, and performance parameters of contracts and contractor performance to resolve day-to-day matters within the scope of the delegated authority. Utilizing analytic skills to analyze reports, regulations, and other relevant material. Applying oral and written techniques to communicate and interact effectively and diplomatically with internal and external customers. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. You must: Meet all qualification requirements, including education if applicable to this position, subject to verification at any stage of the application process; and Meet all applicable Time in Grade requirements (current federal employees must have served 52 weeks at the next lower grade or equivalent grade band in the federal service) by 01/22/2024.
