As a Student Trainee (Health Insurance), GS-0199-5/7, you will assist in analyzing health care. See duties below for more specifics.
Duties
Review policies to ensure accuracy and consistency with legislation, regulations, statutes, and laws.
Assist in the coordination, planning, development, and management of agency correspondence.
Contribute to the development of solutions to resolve health care program issues.
Conduct analytical studies and evaluate the effectiveness of health care program initiatives.
Respond to general inquiries regarding the status of ongoing projects.
Requirements
- You must be a U.S. Citizen or National to apply for this position.
- You must possess a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher on a 4.0 scale.
- You will be subject to a background and suitability investigation.
- You must sign a Pathways Participant Agreement before starting employment.
- You must be 16 years old to be employed by the Federal government.
- Applicants who graduate college at the conclusion of the Spring 2024 semester may only be considered if they remain enrolled and are also accepted for enrollment for the Summer 2024 or Fall 2024 semester.

PROGRAM ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENT:
To be eligible for the CMS Pathways - Summer Internship Program, an individual must be enrolled and seeking a degree (e.g., diploma, certificate, etc.) in a qualifying educational institution/program on a full or half-time basis for the current SPRING 2024 semester. Additional proof of enrollment for the upcoming SUMMER 2024 or FALL 2024 semester will be required before a final job offer can be extended. If you are graduating in the Spring 2024 semester, you are not eligible for the Summer Intern Program unless you are enrolled at least half time in a continuing education degree for the Summer 2024 or Fall 2024 semesters (i.e. Graduating in Spring 2024 with a Bachelor's and enrolling in a Master's Program of Summer or Fall 2024). Spring graduates who are not continuing their education Summer or Fall 2024 are encouraged to apply to our Recent Graduate announcements.
If your educational institution/program operates on a quarter system and Spring 2024 registration is not open at the time of application, you will need to provide proof of Spring 2024 registration upon selection.
A certificate program is defined as post-secondary education, in a qualifying educational institution, equivalent to at least one academic year of full-time study (30 undergrad credits/18 grad school credits) that is part of an accredited college-level, technical, trade, vocational, or business school curriculum.

Possess and maintain a cumulative Grade Point Average (GPA) of 3.0 or higher on the unweighted 4.0 scale. GPA is based on current enrollment. GPA 2.95 is rounded to 3.0 and 2.94 is rounded to 2.9. NOTE: Students enrolled in a school or college that utilizes a Pass/Fail grading system are required to submit an unofficial transcript which must include the Institutions legend that documents the Pass/Fail equivalency.
TRANSCRIPTS or other applicable education documents (e.g., acceptance letter) are required at the time of application to verify program eligibility.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
GS-05: Completion of a Bachelor's degree, equivalent degree, OR 4 academic years of education above high school that leads to a Bachelor's degree. Four full academic years above high school is defined as 120 credits or 180 quarter hours.
GS-07: Completion of 1 full academic year of graduate level education. One year of full-time graduate education is considered to be the number of credit hours that the school attended has determined to represent 1 year of full-time study. If that information cannot be obtained from the school, 18 semester hours should be considered as satisfying the 1 year of full-time study requirement. Part-time graduate education is creditable in accordance with its relationship to a year of full-time study at the school attended. OR eligibility under Superior Academic Achievement: A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university AND one of the following provisions of superior academic achievement:

A grade-point average of "B" (3.0 or higher on a 4.0 scale) for all completed undergraduate courses or those completed in the last two years of undergraduate study. For example, 2.95 is rounded to 3.0, and 2.94 is rounded to 2.9.
A grade-point average of 3.5 or higher on a 4.0 scale for all required courses completed in your major field of study, or those required courses in your major completed in the last two years of your undergraduate study.
Rank in the upper one-third of your class in the college, university, or major subdivision.
Membership in a national honor society (other than freshman honor societies) recognized by the Association of College Honor Societies
UNOFFICIAL TRANSCRIPTS are required at the time of application (SEE REQUIRED DOCUMENTS SECTION).
If you do not submit a transcript indicating your possession of the required education, you will not be considered for this position.
