About the Position: This position is with Public Affairs Office for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers located in downtown Los Angeles, California. Recruitment or Relocation incentive may be authorized.

Duties

Provide input to the Los Angeles District Public Affairs Officer (PAO) and assist in conducting the Commander's public affairs program. Provide Public Affairs' guidance, counsel, advice and training to other employees and senior leaders in the district. Manage and coordinate the internal communication systems, including updating and populating information on the hall monitor system and Intranet; working with the outreach coordinator on promoting and executing community Outreach program. Seek continuous improvement in the communication process and provide input to the PAO to develop new tools and ideas to improve District response and relationships with key customers, partners and our communities. Provide input to the PAO in managing the District's media response program, coordinating training of District spokespersons and responding to media representatives and the public in a timely manner. Plan and execute strategic communications, including coordinating with project managers and project delivery teams to create themes, messages, communication plans for district projects, programs and events, and craft remarks for senior leaders. Produce command information products, which include stories, photos, video and audio production, social media posts, website posts and news releases, among others, to tell the LA District's story.

This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11). Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
