You will serve as a GENERAL INVESTIGATOR in the Force Inspector General (IG) Department of COMMANDER NAVAL AIR PACIFIC.

Duties

You will investigate and coordinate investigations of fraud, waste, abuse and related improprieties. You will construct and review investigative reports to ensure the quality and manner in which the investigation was performed meets all standards. You will analyze and review investigation results. You will provide Chief of Staff and the Naval Inspector General reports covering cases received, cases closed and substantiation rates and status of open cases. You will provide oversight, advice and audit function to staff and subordinate commands regarding Management Control Program. You will conduct command, region or agency-wide training workshops, seminars and conferences. You will be an Independent Review Officer for Force Inspector General (IG) investigation reports. You will manage the Commander Naval Air Forces (COMNAVAIRPAC) Inspector General Hotline Program, producing reports subject to review and approval by Higher Headquarters.

  • Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.
  • Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered for Selective Service.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • You will be required to complete ethics orientation within three months of appointment and submit a Confidential Financial Disclosure Report, OGE-450, within 30 days of appointment.
  • You may be required to work onboard ships.
  • You may be required to work during severe weather conditions.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-12 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Analyzing and providing investigation services by reviewing details of fraud, waste, and abuse to make recommendations and ensure investigation standards are met.
