Qualifications

Federal experience is not required. The experience may have been gained in the public sector, private sector or Volunteer Service. One year of experience refers to full-time work; part-timework is considered on a prorated basis.- To ensure full credit for your work experience, please indicate dates of employment by month/year, and indicate number of hours worked per week, on your resume. In order to qualify, you must first meet IRS Internship Program eligibility: You must be enrolled on at least a half-time basis, or accepted for enrollment, and seeking a degree (diploma, certificate, etc.) in a qualifying educational institution; have at least a cumulative (overall) 2.0 grade point average or higher on a 4.0 scale; remain in good academic standing. Secondly, you must meet any basic requirements of the position and the experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Competitive Service Student Trainee Positions. Basic Qualification Requirement for GS-03: Completion of 1 full academic year of post-high school study. OR Six (6) months of general clerical related experience. The experience should have been progressively responsible clerical, office or other work that indicates ability to acquire to perform the duties of this position. Basic Qualification Requirement for GS-04: Completion of 2 full academic years of post-high school study or an associate degree. OR One (1) year or twelve (12 months) of general experience. The experience should have been progressively responsible clerical, office or other work that indicates ability to acquire to perform the duties of this position. Basic Qualification Requirement GS-05: Completion of 4 academic years of post-high school leading to a bachelor's degree or equivalent degree. OR One (1) year or twelve (12 months) of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade (GS -04) in the Federal government. Specialized experience includes responsible clerical, office, or other work that is related to the position to be filled. Examples of specialized experience for this position includes analyzing problems to identify significant factors, gathering pertinent data, and recognizing solutions; Planning and organizing work; and communicating effectively orally and in writing. Education

This position has an education requirement. You MUST submit dated documentation showing current enrollment in a qualifying institution (e.g. letter from the registrar, unofficial transcripts from current semester) by the closing date of the announcement. Education must be accredited by an accrediting institution recognized by the U.S. Department of Education.

FOREIGN EDUCATION: Education completed in foreign colleges or universities may be used to meet the requirements. You must show proof the education credentials have been deemed to be at least equivalent to that gained in conventional U.S. education program.
