This position is located at Ft. Rucker, Alabama, home of the United States Army Aviation Center of Excellence. Fort Rucker is located in the "Wiregrass" area in Southeast Alabama, surrounded by Enterprise, Ozark and Daleville. The geography and climate are ideal for year round military training. Recreation activities are abundant in the immediate and surrounding areas for family and fun.

Duties

Serve as senior staff specialist providing educational guidance to design, direct, and implement faculty and staff programs to meet the educational and developmental needs. Instruct lesson material developed by a training Command, School, University and Faculty and Staff. Serve as functional course manager, consultant, and evaluator for Faculty and Staff developed and implemented Programs of Instruction (POI). Evaluate the adequacy of training of a Commands faculty and staff by conducting front-end analysis.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret Security Clearance.
  • This position has a 25% Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement.
  • A one year trial/probationary period may be required.
  • Permanent Change of Station (PCS) allowances may be authorized, subject to the provisions of the Joint Travel Regulations and an agency determination that a PCS move is in the Government Interest.
  • Defense National Relocation Program will NOT be authorized.
  • Recruitment/Relocation/Retention Incentive may be authorized.

(1) Learning theory, psychology of learning, educational psychology: Study of learning theories as they relate to the systematic design, development, and validation of instructional material. (2) Instructional design practices: Study of the principles and techniques used in designing training programs, developing design strategy and models, to the improvement of instructional effectiveness. (3) Educational evaluation: Study of the techniques for evaluating the effectiveness of instructional/educational programs, including developing written and performance tests and survey instruments, and determining reliability and validity of evaluation instruments. (4) Instructional product development: Study of the techniques appropriate for developing training materials, including identifying learner characteristics, specifying objectives, applying training strategy, validating training materials, and evaluating training. OR (5) Computers in education and training: Study of the application of computers in education and training, including selecting appropriate computer software. In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below: Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: 1) Planning and executing programs concerning faculty and staff to meet educational and development needs 2) Analyzing and evaluating special training studies and projects to establish program objectives and to assess progress 3) Reviewing and analyzing the processes associated with the SAT (analysis, design, development, implementation, evaluation (ADDIE) 4) Providing advice regarding the preparation/modification of training materials and products. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11). You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Instructional ImplementationInstructional Materials & Curriculum DevelopmentInstructional Program EvaluationStaff and Faculty Development Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-11).
