This position will be located in the Financial Division, Morale, Welfare and Recreation Department aboard Naval Air Station, Jacksonville, Florida. The purpose of this position is to maintain accounting records for Non-Appropriated Funds (NAF). Incumbent will work under the Financeal Manager.
Duties
Maintains and reconciles budget and accounting records by implementing principles of accounting and double entry bookkeeping. Main records consist of Daily activity Report Summaries (DAR's). Supporting financial data received from each MWR department is utilized to prepare the official accounting document and or transaction for each submission to MWR Southeast Regional Business Office.
Works daily with automated accounting system, SAP and applicable corresponding programs.
Prepares General Journal Vouchers for inter-company transfers and end of month balance sheet account movements.
Reviews, examines, verifies and analyzes a variety of income and expense source documents for validity and accuracy.
Sends requests to region for new vendors, assets, articles and customer refunds.
Interacts with program managers, vendors and regional accounting staff to ensure timely processing of payment requests in compliance with Prompt Payment Act.
Verifies purchase orders with invoices for agreement prior to affecting payments to vendors.
Supports program managers by renewing service contracts, modifying and tracking purchase orders, and closing loop on outstanding payments due.
Interfaces with command MWR reps to process unit allocation and command funds, collect and forward receipts to region for verification.
Assists Business Manager with routine inquiries and tasks such as preparing and closing travel orders.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Must meet Federal Employment suitability requirements and successful completion of background investigation. Background investigations are conducted using fingerprint identification and completion of background inquiry forms.
- Must successfully pass the E-verify employment verification check. Any discrepancies must be resolved as a condition of employment.
- You must go through a Personal Identity Verification (PIV) process that requires two forms of identification from the Form I-9.
- Must provide proof of U.S. Citizenship or U.S. National.
- Must have your salary sent to a financial institution of your choice by Direct Deposit/Electronic Funds Transfer.
- Must reside within 50 miles of 32212 at time of applying.
- A valid State driver's license is required to operate motor vehicles.
Qualifications

Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:
Basic accounting and/or bookkeeping skills. Specifically, knowledge of double entry accrual accounting procedures, chart of accounts, codes, forms and terminology used to describe accounting transactions.
Some college preferred and one or two years of office experience.
Knowledge of the organization, routine office procedures.
Must have good phone skills, a good command of the English language, and clear communication skills.
Must have knowledge of computer programs such as Excel, Word, etc. and the ability to enter information with speed and accuracy.
Must be able to type 45 words per minute.
Must be able to exercise tact and courtesy and use good judgment in carrying on public contacts by phone and in person.
