About the Position: This position is with the Family Medicine Service Branch of the Desmond T. Doss Health Clinic, Schofield Barracks, Hawaii. This is a Direct Hire Solicitation

Duties

Perform bio-psychological social evaluations, using principles, procedures, and practices relating to psychological counseling. Conduct psychological and psychometric assessments and formulate behavioral health interventions appropriate to a primary care setting Provide concise and timely documentation of care and recommendations in patient’s medical record Develop specific clinical pathways or best practice programs for targeted patient groups (e.g., patients with acute stress symptoms and PTSD) Provide on-going consultation services for a sub-set of patients who require on-going monitoring and follow-up Perform case management functions when those services are not available by an assigned BH Case Manager Develop classes that promote education and skill-building to enhance psychological and physical health, and promote behavioral change related to improved health status

Requirements

• Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
• One year trial/probationary period may be required.
• Immunization screening is required. Hepatitis B immunization is required for all positions with direct patient contact. Applicants may be required to show proof of other immunizations depending on the type of position.
• Must be able to obtain and maintain current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Red Cross. Advanced certification (e.g., ALS) does not supersede BLS.
• Applicants must be able to fulfill credentialing requirements and obtain and maintain appropriate/relevant clinical privileges.
• This position requires regular contact with children under the age 18 and a favorable determination of suitability to do so.
• A pre-placement medical examination is required.
• Selectees will be required to sign a statement (Condition of Employment) consenting to seasonal influenza vaccinations or must provide a recognized exemption.

Basic Requirement for Clinical Psychologist: Degree: Successful completion of a Doctoral Degree (Ph.D. or equivalent) directly related to full professional work in clinical psychology. License: Position requires a current, active, valid, and unrestricted clinical license to practice Psychology independently offered by a U.S. State, District of Columbia, Commonwealth, territory, or jurisdiction. In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements below: Experience required: To qualify based on your experience, your resume must describe at least one year of experience which prepared you to do the work in this job. Specialized experience is defined as: 1) performing bio-psychosocial evaluations of behavioral health patients, 2) providing psychological counseling, and 3) formulating behavioral health treatment plans. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-12). Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
