THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 32 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION. This National Guard position is for a AIRCRAFT PILOT, Position Description Number D0640000 and is part of the ID AASF, National Guard. THIS POSITION IS INDEFINITE WITH THE POSSIBILITY TO NON-COMPETITIVELY CONVERT AT A LATER DATE.

Duties

1. Responsible for the property book operations of the organization in the areas of inventory management, equipment coordination, and supply management. Is responsible for various categories of property. 2. Serves as government purchase card holder adhering to all federal DA, and local regulations, policies, and procedures to make purchases for schools, supplies, equipment, or services. Budgets, forecasts, and accounts for funds utilized to requisition supplies, equipment, and services. 3. Pilots a variety of fixed wing twin engine airplanesand utility helicopters to transport passengers and cargo to andfrom a variety of points. Operates aircraft with short takeoff andlanding capability, generally in good or fair weather conditions, butmay include all types of weather, day and night over terrain such asforests, marshlands, mountain ranges, and open seas. Flights are tomodern airports with paved runways, with navigational aids, goodlanding facilities and some unimproved or tactical landing pads andstrips. Participates in all-weather search and rescue operations a8required. Serves as a member of boards pertaining to aviationaccidents, flight evaluation, collateral investigations,standardization and federal recognition. 4. Performs maintenance operation checks (MOCs) andlimited and general test flights of aircraft to ensure airworthinessupon completion of extensive disassembly for maintenance, repair orreplacement of components or aircraft systems. Performs general orlimited test flights of aircraft when ground diagnostic tests cannotdetermine the safe and/or proper functioning of aircraft componentsor systems. Performs acceptance test flights of new aircraft whenrequired. 5. Performs other duties as assigned.

• This is an excepted service position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the employing state's National Guard, required prior to the effective date of placement.

GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Mandatory Qualification Requirements - Eligibility requirements for Dual Status technician positions in this occupation are based on the candidate's possession of Federal Aviation Administration pilot certificates -OR- appropriate military certifications, military ratings in the main-frame military aircraft of employment, and the required competencies (knowledge, skills, and abilities) SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must demonstrate the following specialized experience competencies (skills, knowledge, and abilities) to qualify for entry appointments to GS-2181-12 Army National Guard Dual Status Warrant Officer positions. Qualification competencies are determined by three factors: The aircraft operated; the nature and purpose of assignments; the degree of hazard. For Army National Guard positions, must have working experiences in civilian aviation programs; or, in military service aviation programs (active duty or reserve components); or, in the Army National Guard Aviation Support facilities; To qualify, the applicant must have at least two years specialized competencies in operating a specific main-frame military aircraft, mission planning, and mission preparation. Experienced in reviewing and analyzing mission tasking, intelligence, and weather information. Experienced in filing flight plans and conducting crew briefings. Experienced in aircraft preflight inspections, aircraft loading, and equipment assessments. Experienced in performing or supervising work procedures involved in navigation, in-flight refueling, search and rescue operations or surveillance and reconnaissance. Competent in conducting or supervising the training of crew members in simple to complex mission specific tasks. Experienced in developing plans and policies, monitoring operations, and advising commanders. Knowledge is required in flight theory, air navigation, meteorology, flying directives, mission tactics, and operating procedures.
