About the Position: Serves as a senior inspector responsible for planning, coordinating, and directing the accomplishment of onsite construction inspections and related activities for a variety of civil works navigation and flood control projects in an assigned geographic area.

Duties

Perform a variety of inspection tasks related to the more difficult and complex construction features of District civil works navigation and flood control projects. Participate in the review of plans and specifications prior to advertisement of work under contract in order to locate and attempt to correct any potential constructability problem in the designs. Conducts final inspection of completed work and makes recommendations as to acceptance or rejection of work which are normally accepted as final. Coordinates construction operations with contractors and Federal, State, and local agencies as well as private industry in the relocation of railroad, pipelines, utilities, bridges, roadways, etc. Records modifications and changes to contract drawings and specifications and prepares "as-built" drawings at completion of construction.

OR Education: Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as: Engineering, Engineering Technology, or Construction Management. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the first year (total graduate semester hours minus 18) by 18. Add the two percentages.
