THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 32 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION.
This National Guard position is for a AIRCRAFT PILOT (TITLE 32), Position Description Number NGD0711000 and is part of the TN ARMYNational Guard.
This vacancy is covered by Association of Civilian Technicians (ACT), Chapter 110.
Duties
As an AIRCRAFT PILOT (MILITARY) GS-2181-12, you will direct, evaluate, and issue technical guidance to aviation units on matters pertaining to aviation training, readiness reporting, the Aircrew Training Manual and National Guard Bureau (NGB) training management and planning. Oversees both collective and individual programs. Provide staff level supervision to training officers and noncommissioned officers in battalions and related requests for waivers of flying program requirements. Manage and direct the Additional Flight Training Period (AFTP) Program; audits and provides reports on utilization, entitlement, and total program execution. Administers Flying Hour Program (FHP) and Operational Support Aircraft (OSA) priorities. Facilitate direct communication between supported and supporting units involving aviation support. Coordinate joint training exercises. Serve as Aircraft Maintenance Manager and as a technical expert in the field of aircraft equipment maintenance with responsibility for coordination of intermediate and limited Depot Maintenance Programs for the Army Aviation Support Facilities (AASFs). Manage the aircraft inventory for the state. Manages Physical Security Program in the SAAO and provides staff level support and assistance to physical security/operational security managers of the aviation units in the state. Conduct physical security inspections and evaluations. Has staff responsibility for the Army Aviation accident prevention program, to include semiannual safety meeting for all aircrew members. Represent the SAAO at conferences and meetings. Deliver formal and informal presentations. In the absence of the SAAO, the incumbent serves as advisor to the Adjutant General regarding ARNG aviation matters, performs liaison between the Adjutant General and user organizations in matter relevant to aviation and aircraft maintenance. Perform other duties as assigned.

- This is an excepted service position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the employing state's National Guard, required prior to the effective date of placement.

- Possess a valid state driver’s license to operate government motor vehicles, for the state in which they live or are principally employed, in accordance with Army
Operations Directives.
- Qualify to operate government motor vehicles and vehicular equipment for “Maintenance Purposes Only” according to Army Vehicle Maintenance Operations Directives.

- Must be able to obtain and maintain the appropriate security clearance of the position.
- This position is covered by the Domestic Violence Misdemeanor Amendment (30 Sep 96) of the Gun Control Act (Lautenberg Amendment) of 1968.
- Irregular and/or overtime (compensatory) hours may be required to support operational requirements or contingencies or may be required to work hours outside of the normal duty day.
- Acceptance of a Federal position may terminate Tricare Reserve Select eligibility.
Qualifications
Military Grades: O-1 through O-3
Compatible Military Assignments: Officer Branch 15 - Aviation or 67 - Medical Service Corps,
GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Possession of Federal Aviation Administration pilot certificates-OR- appropriate military certifications, military ratings in the main-frame military aircraft of employment, and the required competencies in knowledge, skill, abilities, and have experience to perform the Dual Status technician duties and responsibilities.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: 12 months in the next lower grade or 36 months experience or training in the aircraft operated in the nature and purpose of assignments, and the degree of hazard for Army National Guard positions, you must have working experience in civilian aviation programs; or in military service aviation programs (active duty or reserve components) or in the Army National Guard Aviation Support facilities. Experience in operating a specific main-frame military aircraft, mission planning, mission preparation, reviewing and analyzing mission tasking, intelligence, and weather information. Experienced in filing flight plans and conducting crew briefings, aircraft preflight inspections, aircraft loading, and equipment assessments. Experienced in performing of supervising conducting or supervising the training of crew members in simple to complex mission specific tasks. Experience in developing plans and policies, monitoring operations, and advising commanders, and knowledge in flight theory, air navigation, meteorology, flying directives, mission tactics, and operating procedures. Experience in the unit flying, explosive, and ground safety programs in accordance with Department of Defese, Department of the Army, National Guard Bureau, and / or Occupational Safety and Health Administration policies, regulations, and directives.
Education
Education Requirement:
Commission Officer- Army National Guard Second and First Lieutenants must be actively pursuing an undergraduate degree with at least 90 validated credit hours in a specified program. Must have Federal Aviation Administration certifications awarded from accredited civilian aviation programs OR must have aviation certifications from accredited military aviation schools.
Substitution of Education to qualify for this position is not available.
