Employee will be assigned to the Cash Management Department of Consolidated Patient Account Center (CPAC), Asheville, NC, serving as the Mail and File Clerk. The CPAC is one of seven regionally consolidated business entities established to enhance revenue operations throughout the VHA network by standardization and consolidation of functions and integration of VHA and Industry best practices.
Duties

Duties include, but may not be limited to the following:
Reviews incoming miscellaneous materials such as mail, publications, directives, etc., and presorts these into action and/or information categories.
Routes non-controlled materials and prepares control and routing sheets for correspondence or other materials.
Maintains suspense files for replies and follow up on over-due items.
Performs administrative and/or clerical tasks in support of various office functions such as establishing and maintaining office files, collating documents, preparing folders, etc.
Processes incoming and/or outgoing mail, including the processing of express mail.
Performs general mail handling and distribution including sorting, opening, date stamping, classifying, processing, and routing mail.
Receives and distributes mail and packages to the appropriate CPAC organization.
Maintains logs or records of special items received and/or distributed.
Makes scheduled mail runs and conducts pickups or deliveries as required.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:00am - 4:30pm.

Qualifications
GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Applicants must possess one (1) year of general experience, that equipped you with the knowledge, skills, and abilities needed to successfully perform the duties of this position. General experience is progressively responsible clerical, office, or other work that indicates ability to acquire the particular knowledge and skills needed to perform the duties of the position to be filled.
OR
SUBSTITUTION OF EDUCATION FOR EXPERIENCE (Transcript Required): Successful completion of two (2) years of education above the high school level in any field. This education must have been obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university for which high school graduation or the equivalent is the normal prerequisite. One year of full-time undergraduate study is defined as 30 semester hours, 45 quarter hours, or the equivalent in a college or university or at least 20 hours of classroom instruction per week for approximately 36 weeks in a business, secretarial or technical school.

COMBINING EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE (Transcript Required): Combination of successfully completed post high school education and experience may be used to meet total qualification requirements.
DRIVER'S LICENSE REQUIREMENT: Must possess a valid state issued driver's license. Please do not submit a copy of your license with your application package. If an interview is requested, you may be required to provide a copy of your current, valid, and unrestricted state issued driver's license.

IMPORTANT: A full year of work is considered to be 35-40 hours of work per week. All experience listed on your resume must include the month and year start/end dates. Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities. Physical Requirements: There are no unusual physical requirements. The work is primarily sedentary, although some slight physical effort may be required.
