This position is a Full-time temporary appointment not-to-exceed one year with potential to be extended for an additional one year for a maximum of two years based on agency needs and potential funding.

Duties
Major duties include the following:
Perform operation of road graders, dozers, backhoes, front-end loaders, 60 plus horsepower tractors with attachments, snowplows, sand/salt spreaders, single and tandem axle and all-wheel drive dump trucks, and trailers. Utilizes equipment with different attachments and controls, multi-wheel drive, and several different types of braking systems.
Operate gasoline or diesel power equipment with wheel or crawler traction such as motor graders, dozers, rollers, asphalt spreaders, tractors, snowplows, front-end loaders, backhoe, tractor with lowboy trailer, and log and brush chippers. Cut, dig, level, and move earth, sand, snow, and other material.
Repair and maintain road surfaces, ditch and water control work, winter snow and ice removal, bridge maintenance, grading/compacting soil, removal of rockslides and hazardous trees.
Perform work through written instructions. Complete daily work logs.
Perform safety inspections of equipment. Follow operator and safety manuals on all equipment. Complete safety training in operation of heavy equipment.
Follows all applicable safety requirements. Operates equipment safely in areas of high traffic flow and extreme congestion in various weather conditions.
