This position will serve as a student trainee and will receive training in analytical methods used to develop objectively based information in support of administrative and programmatic planning, development, evaluation, and managerial decision-making. On-the-job training assignments provide a practical understanding of the organization, programs, policies, and objectives of the agency as well as furnish experience in the application of principles, procedures, and work techniques.

Duties

As a Student Trainee (Program Analyst), you will: -Perform work as a part of a team in conducting and performing analysis and advisory assignments related to the effectiveness of programs of the assigned organization. -Participate in the technical reviews of work in progress or finished work products of contractors for accuracy, adequacy, and soundness. -Aid in the development of procedures and documents for establishing, operating and assessing the effectiveness of applications such as those designed to prevent waist, loss, unauthorized use, and misappropriation of assets. -Assist in performing certain office administration functions for additional experience and exposure to programs, operations, work functions and flow, etc. Such duties may include: Place and receive telephone calls; refer calls and visitors; open and distribute mail; reproduce materials; maintain files; type letters, reports, memoranda, etc., which includes technical programmatic information; review outgoing correspondence and reports for format, grammar, typographical accuracy, conformance with established procedures, and confirm that all required background information is attached.

Qualifications

You must meet eligibility and qualification requirements by the closing of this announcement. Specialized Experience: For the GS-7 grade level, you must have one year (52 full weeks) of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-5 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized Experience for this position includes: Drafting and preparing reports and responding to inquiries in oral and written communication.; OR Using automated systems and computer applications, software, and social media to research and communicate information. OR Education: You may substitute education for general or specialized experience as follows: One full year of graduate level education in a related field, or Superior Academic Achievement based on a bachelor's degree that is demonstrated through class standing (upper 1/3 of class), grade point average (2.95/4.0 overall or 3.5/4.0 in major), or election to membership in a qualifying national scholastic honor society. OR Combination: You may qualify by a combination of experience and education. To combine education and experience, the total percentage of experience at the required grade level compared to the specialized experience requirement, as well as the percentage of completed education compared to the education requirement must equal at least 100 percent. Experience may have been gained in either the public, private sector or volunteer service. One year of experience refers to full-time work; part-time work is considered on a prorated basis. To ensure full credit for your work experience, please indicate dates of employment by month/day/year, and indicate number of hours worked per week on your resume.

Education

Pathways Student Internship Program Education Requirement:

A. Must be a current student at an accredited high school (public or private) or in a home-school program*; college (including 4-year colleges/universities, community colleges, and junior colleges); professional, technical, vocational, or trade school; advanced degree programs; or other qualifying educational institution, on a full or half-time basis (as defined by the institution in which the student is enrolled) pursuing a qualifying degree or certificate. *Secondary home-school curricula must be recognized by the State or local government oversight agency.

B. You must maintain student eligibility and enrollment for the duration of the internship. If you do not maintain eligibility and enrollment, you are ineligible for this program. Please review the "REQUIREMENTS" section of the vacancy announcement to ensure that you qualify to apply to this internship.

C. Every semester, you must maintain good academic standing with an overall GPA of 2.0 or higher on a 4.0 scale.
