These positions are located in the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), Agricultural Research Service (ARS), Location Support Staff in Woodward, OK and Stillwater, OK.
In these positions, you will be responsible for providing general labor activities such as assisting higher-graded maintenance personnel, moving and organizing materials and supplies, and minor facility repair work.
Duties
Provide general labor assistance to higher-graded maintenance personnel in the maintenance of buildings, grounds, greenhouses, and shop areas.
Perform general labor activities such as material movement, landscape-related activities, and project material placement.
Perform the full range of cleaning duties in an assigned area following general instructions of the work to be done.
Receive freight by means of operating a forklift and other various lifting devices, such as dollies and hand trucks.
Adjust, clean and oil machines and change brushes, rollers, buffers, and other attachments on them.
Operate light duty motor vehicles weighing up to 10,000 pounds (such as pick-up trucks, panel trucks, flatbed trucks, etc.) to transport personnel, material, or equipment to work sites located on the park.
Move heavy boxes, crates, parts, or other obstacles in order to clean up the area and pick up scraps of wood, metal and other materials.
Requirements

Qualifications
In order to qualify for this position you must meet the following by the closing date of the vacancy announcement: 01/26/2024. Qualifications will be determined under the Job Element Rating System X-118C, Qualifications Standard Handbook. While a specific length of time and experience is not required for most Wage Grade positions, you must show through experience and training that you possess the best qualified level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of this position. Qualification requirements emphasize the quality of experience, not necessarily the length. The responses to the questionnaire and your resume should be in significant detail to provide the person rating your application with a good understanding of your ability to do the job, technical knowledge, work, and training experience, etc. (For example You must have the ability to perform the duties of a Laborer without more than normal supervision (Screen Out)). Physical Effort
The work performed requires moderately heavy physical effort and involves lifting and moving objects weighing over 23 kilograms (50 pounds). Laborers must move and control heavy equipment, carry and set up ladders and scaffolding, and work from ladders and scaffolds.
Working Conditions
At this level laborers work outside in all kinds of weather, and inside in areas that may be dusty, drafty, and noisy. The equipment, tools, and tasks involved at this level frequently require extreme care and use of safety gloves, ear plugs, safety glasses, or respirators to avoid severe injuries.
Additional Duty Grade Determination: This position operates light duty motor vehicles weighing up to 10,000 pounds (such as pick-up trucks, panel trucks, flatbed trucks, etc.…) on a regular and recurring basis to transport personnel, material, or equipment to work sites. The vehicles operated are driven on the basis of either specific trip assignments or regularly established schedules and standard routes throughout the park under limited traffic conditions at low speeds. The JGS for Motor Vehicle Operating, WG-5703 is referenced in determining the grade level of the ancillary duty to operate motor vehicles. As contained in the JGS, drivers at the WG-04 grade level operate one or more motor vehicles including pickup trucks, panel trucks, flatbed trucks, carryalls, sedans, crew cab pickup trucks, jeeps, and station wagons which typically have an approximate gross vehicle weight of up to 4500 kilograms (10,000 pounds). Vehicles are driven on the basis of either specific trip assignments or regularly established schedules and standard routes to transport personnel, supplies, materials, or equipment and tools throughout an installation or establishment under limited traffic conditions at low speeds.
