You will serve as a INDUSTRIAL HYGIENE TECHNICIAN in the Bureau Medicine and Surgery Military Treatment Facility (BUMED MTF) of NMRTC PEARL HARBOR HI. Duties

You will plan and conduct industrial hygiene sampling surveys. You will serve as the point of contact on industrial hygiene sampling and monitoring equipment. You will follow up on abatement actions, researches sampling strategies and provides occupational safety and health training to activity employees. You will participate in developmental and on the job training, following specific guidelines and close supervisor instruction. You will maintain and calibrate specialized industrial health equipment.

Qualifications

For GS-07: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-06 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector: -Planning, managing, and performing sampling of potential health hazardous exposures to chemical, physical and biological stressors; - Completing workplace monitoring in support of Exposure Monitoring Plans for multiple industrial commands/organizations across geographically dispersed areas; - Conducting complete workplace monitoring evaluations using various Industrial Hygiene (IH) monitoring equipment of work operations involving potentially hazardous occupational physical and chemical stressors with minimal oversight of an Industrial Hygienist; - Gathering data on-site for the recognized chemical and physical hazards of the work operations monitored; - Documenting workplace conditions and any apparent violations of occupational safety and health standards during the monitoring of work operations; - Preparing instructional outlines and providing technical instruction to IH professionals, technicians and workplace monitors on the use of new technically advanced Industrial Hygiene equipment; - Managing Industrial Hygiene (IH) monitoring equipment calibration, preventive maintenance, and repair programs within an industrial hygiene program office; AND -. Utilizing electronic data warehouse applications such as the Defense Occupational and Environmental Health Readiness System Industrial Hygiene (DOEHRS-IH) for entering occupational exposure monitoring data. For GS-06: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-05 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector: - Completing workplace monitoring in support of Exposure Monitoring Plans for multiple industrial commands/organizations across geographically dispersed areas; - Conducting complete workplace monitoring using various IH monitoring equipment of work operations involving potentially hazardous occupational physical and chemical stressors under the direction of an Industrial Hygienist; - Managing Industrial Hygiene (IH) monitoring equipment calibration, preventive maintenance, and repair programs within an industrial hygiene program office; - Gathering data on-site for the recognized chemical and physical hazards of the work operations monitored; - Documenting workplace conditions and any apparent violations of occupational safety and health standards during the monitoring of work operations; - Utilizing MS Office Suite software such as Word, Excel, and/or Access; AND - Utilizing an electronic data warehouse application to enter occupational exposure monitoring data.
