You will serve as a PAINTER SUPERVISOR I in the Preservation Shop (Code 970), Production Resouces Department Manager (Code 901), Production Resources Department (Code 900) of NORFOLK NAVAL SHIPYARD.

Duties

You will resolve working problems and take necessary corrective action to overcome delays. You will inspect work in progress to assure efficiency, economy and safety of operations. You will secure issues, oversee and advise on the use of safety equipment. You will enforce safety, fire, and other regulations and maintain good "housekeeping" in work areas supervised.

Requirements

  • Must be a US Citizen.
  • Must be determined suitable for federal employment.
  • Must participate in the direct deposit pay program.

Qualifications

The Screen-out Element for this position is: ABILITY TO LEAD OR SUPERVISE: Reading, interpreting, and correctly following complex written instructions, drawing, specification, engineering standards, and manufacture' requirements. Instructing subordinates in work methods and procedures in the proper use of tools and equipment, safe work practices, and operation of new equipment. Setting up and using pumps and spray equipment such as conventional, airless, air assisted airless, high volume low pressure, electrostatic, electrostatic powder, and plasma powder application. Planning sequence of operations for groups of employees. Participating in personnel matters including performance ratings; leave request, disciplinary and commendatory actions.
