Duties: 1. Plan and organize work, including determining documentation and data requirements to meet audit objectives.2. Brief OIG and NGA senior leadership on routine performance audit matters, results, and recommendations to improve efficiency and effectiveness and prevent and detect fraud, waste, and abuse in NGA programs and operations.3. Develop audit proposals for the annual audit planning process.Additional Information: The NGA OIG Audit Division conducts independent, objective audits and other reviews of NGA programs and operations and makes recommendations to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of NGA policies, programs, and operations. The OIG Audit Division is seeking a Performance Auditor to research, plan, and conduct performance audits in accordance with Generally Accepted Government Auditing Standards with minimal supervision. This individual will have an opportunity to participate in all aspects of the audit cycle from development of an annual audit plan through follow-up on recommendations. This individual must have a strong ethical commitment to ensure the integrity, efficiency, and effectiveness of NGA programs; have knowledge of the theory, concepts, practices, and techniques of government auditing; be self-motivated and able to work independently as well as in a team environment; and have strong oral and written communication skills. Qualifications

MANDATORY QUALIFICATION CRITERIA: For this particular job, applicants must meet all competencies reflected under the Mandatory Qualification Criteria to include education (if required). Demonstrated experience with performance auditing, in accordance with Generally Accepted Government Auditing Standards.2. Demonstrated experience communicating and writing auditing findings.EDUCATION REQUIREMENT: A. Education: Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in auditing or a related field such as business administration, finance, public administration or accounting. -OR- B. Combination of Education and Experience: At least 4 years of experience in Performance Auditing, or an equivalent combination of performance auditing experience, college-level education, and training that provided professional auditing knowledge. The applicant's background must also include one of the following: 1. A certificate as a Certified Internal Auditor or a Certified Public Accountant, obtained through written examination; or 2. Completion of the requirements for a degree that included substantial course work in auditing or accounting, e.g., 15 semester hours.DESIRABLE QUALIFICATION CRITERIA: In addition to the mandatory qualifications, experience in the following is desired: 1. Demonstrated ability to use knowledge and experience to look at a situation objectively, setting aside any biases, to form conclusions and determine the best solution.2. Demonstrated ability to respond well to shifting priorities.3. Demonstrated ability to work independently or as a member of a team.
