This position is located in the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), Business Operations Section, Financial & Administrative Unit.
This position(s) primary purpose is to perform analysis of financial data on a regular basis, review funding requests for accuracy and input into the financial system using sound financial judgment on appropriate fund types, codes and amounts, and to provide advice to customers on how the financial systems function.

As a Financial Management Analyst, your typical work assignments may include:
Develops project documentation, milestones, identifies required resources, timeliness, and potential risks to the project.
A variety of other fiscal, accounting, or financial management duties and responsibilities may also be performed by incumbents of this position.
Performs or advises on work in any of the phases or systems of budget and financial administration.
Conducts financial reviews and completes projects that provide advisory services to management officials regarding complex programs.
Performs detailed analysis supporting accountants and financial managers associated with the execution and monitoring of Program Office budgets.
Performs financial analysis to the general ledger to include accounts payable, accounts receivable, and other accounts in support of various regulatory financial reports.

Qualifications
Applicants must meet the Specialized Experience requirements as noted below. Qualification claims will be subject to verification.
You must demonstrate in your resume at least one (1) year of qualifying specialized experience. Specialized experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
To be considered for the position, you must meet one of the following qualification requirements:
GS-9:
Education: Master's or equivalent graduate degree; OR 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree; OR LL.B or J.D., if related. NOTE: Graduate education must provide the applicant with the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position.
OR
Experience: You must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent in difficulty and complexity to the next lower grade level in the normal line of progress for the occupation in the organization. To be creditable, this experience must have equipped the applicant with the particular qualifications to perform successfully the duties of the position, and must typically be in or related to the position to be filled.
One year of specialized experience for this position includes:
1) Researching and interpreting financial regulations, policies and laws to provide substantive recommendations and advice to managers; 2) Analyzing and evaluating reports and data from financial systems to identify issues and discrepancies; 3) Researching and interpreting financial policies and laws to resolve financial issues.
OR
Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the first year (total graduate semester hours minus 18) by 18. Add the two percentages.
GS-11:
Education:Three full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree NOTE: Graduate education must provide the applicant with the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position.
OR
Experience:
You must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent in difficulty and complexity to the next lower grade level in the normal line of progress for the occupation in the organization. To be creditable, this experience must have equipped the applicant with the particular qualifications to perform successfully the duties of the position, and must typically be in or related to the position to be filled.
One year of specialized experience for this position includes:
1) Performing financial analyst duties assisting and supporting the mission area/product line in the areas of budget maintenance and development.
OR
Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the second year (total graduate semester hours minus 36) by 18. Add the two percentages.
