You will serve as a Marine Machinery Mechanic in the Industrial Support Division C/26 of the Machinery Programs and Platforms Department of Naval Surface Warfare Center Philadelphia Division (NSWC PHILA DIV).

Duties

You will install and align complex equipment such as high speed generators, super conducting and other propulsion motors and load generators. You will ensure that critical alignment tolerances between rotating machinery are achieved. You will install, align, operate, repair, assemble, dissemble, alter, adjust and maintain marine machinery, equipment and systems. You will operate equipment under test, support systems and facilities in accordance with test procedure, records empirical data and recommends modifications to operating scenarios and prototype equipment as needed. You will coordinate the services of other trades such as riggers, crane operations, pipefitters, sheet metal mechanics and instrument mechanics in the construction and operation of test sites and labs. You will coordinate with supervisors, work leaders, and engineers in arranging support for set-up and testing of systems and components. You will assist the test engineer or technician with problem areas involving installation, operation, maintenance and inspections. You will act as the lead mechanic directing other tradesman in the overhaul, and alteration of shipboard machinery systems while providing support for the in-service engineering, technical codes.

  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
