THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 32 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION. This National Guard position is for a AIRCRAFT PNEUDRAULIC SYSTEMS MECHANIC (TITLE 32), Position Description Number D1367000 and is part of the IL 126, National Guard.

Duties

As a AIRCRAFT PNEUDRAULIC SYSTEMS MECHANIC (TITLE 32), WG-8268-5/8/10, you will perform on- and/or off-equipment maintenance on assigned aircraft pneudraulic systems, components and related aerospace ground equipment. Major Duties - This is NOT an all-inclusive list: Accomplish periodic and special inspections on hydraulic components. Inspect for cracks, scratches, nicks, and holes on seals, gaskets, packings, and hoses. Perform organizational and field level maintenance to include periodic, phase time, calendar, unscheduled, and special inspection. Prepare for and participates in various types of readiness evaluations such as ORI, IG and UE inspections, mobility, and command support exercises. Determine proper maintenance and repair procedures and minimum requirements pertaining to parts, clearance and tolerances, and performance characteristics of pneudraulic systems and related aerospace ground equipment. Solve unusual maintenance problems by studying layout drawings, schematic diagrams, applicable technical publications, and analyzing construction and operating characteristics of pneudraulic systems. Perform Time Compliance Technical Orders (TCTOs) related to pneudraulic systems. Provide technical assistance to other shops concerning complicated interaction malfunctions between other systems, subsystems, and components. Troubleshoot, remove, inspect, install, repair, modify, rebuild, and/or test pneudraulic systems and components for aircraft pneudraulic systems, associated ground support equipment, and/or related test equipment. Remove, disassemble, clean, repair, assemble components, and test completed unit. Diagnose recurring malfunctions and recommends corrective action by initiation of Quality Deficiency Reports, proposed modifications, or other appropriate actions. Jack aircraft to simulate flight configuration, connects power sources, and uses cockpit controls, gauges, and additional precision instruments to check the operation of such items as landing gear doors, ground and flight spoilers and steering and brake systems for performance and conformance to operating specifications.

AREA OF CONSIDERATION: The areas of considerations for this position, Title 32 Excepted Service (32 U.S. Code § 709), will be in the following manner and sequence, The FIRST area of consideration for this position will be all excepted permanent and indefinite temporary technicians within the ILNG. The SECOND area of consideration will be all current Federal Employees. The THIRD area of consideration will be all Federal re-employment eligible. The FOURTH area of consideration will be applicants willing to become T32 Dual Status Technicians and gain ILNG membership. The FIFTH area of consideration will U.S. Citizens. Military Grades: Enlisted - Minimum Rank E3 - Maximum Rank E5 GENERAL EXPERIENCE: MUST possess the experience or training which demonstrates your knowledge of basic electrical and mechanical principles; knowledge of troubleshooting procedures used to isolate malfunctions in aircraft pneudraulic systems; and ability to use technical manuals, equipment specifications, and test calibration procedures in performing the work. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: WG-10 Level - MUSTpossess the specialized experience which includes 18 months experience or training which provides a knowledge of basic electrical and mechanical principles; Experience in fabricating fuel, oil and vacuum hose lines; Experience in servicing, maintaining, disassembling assembling, repairing and testing hydraulic and pneumatic systems; Experience in diagnosing malfunctions and overhauling pneudraulic accessories by disassembling, cleaning part and examining parts; Experience in diagnosing trouble and determining remedies; Experience in repairing, rebuilding and overhauling major systems of ground equipment and pneumatic and hydraulic systems; Experience in mechanical repairs using hand tools and test equipment; Experience that demonstrates the ability to interpret technical manuals, specifications and publications. WG-08 Level - MUST possess the specialized experience or training which includes 12 months experience or training that provides a knowledge of basic electrical and mechanical principles; Experience in fabricating fuel, oil and vacuum hose lines; Experience in servicing, maintaining, disassembling assembling, repairing and testing hydraulic and pneumatic systems; Experience in diagnosing malfunctions and overhauling pneudraulic accessories by disassembling, cleaning part and examining parts; Experience in diagnosing trouble and determining remedies; Experience in servicing, maintaining, disassembling, assembling and repairing pneudraulic ground equipment; Experience using hand tools and test equipment; Experience that demonstrates the ability to interpret technical manuals, specifications and publications. WG-05 Level - MUST possess the specialized experience or training which includes 6 months experience or training which demonstrates the ability to learn basic electrical and mechanical principles; Experience which demonstrates the ability to learn procedures used to jack and perform hydraulic and pneumatic systems check; Experience in identifying basic malfunctions when source of trouble is easily located by appearance, sound, or response; Experience which demonstrates the ability to learn procedures used to service, maintain, disassemble, assemble and repair pneudraulic ground equipment; Experience using various hand tools; Experience which demonstrated the ability to follow written instructions. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.
