Duties
At the full performance level, you will provide a variety of services related to the victim witness program. If selected, you will receive formal and/or on-the-job training as needed. Duties include:
Serves as liaison between the US Attorney and local, state, and federal law enforcement agencies on victim matters;
Provides advice to USAO District Management on victim matters;
Responsible for the oversight, direction and guidance of the District's Victim Assistance Program.
Administers special programs and funds for victim;
Directing the dissemination of information pertinent to various victim assistance laws;
Speaking to public, civic, industry and special interest groups on victim's issues;
Reviewing literature and research on new and developing victim issues;
Conducts training sessions to AUSAs and Support Staff by providing information and resources concerning victim assistance matters;
Coordinating efforts with local victim services providers, state and local social services, state and local law enforcement based victim assistance providers, and local prosecution based victim assistance staff;
Responding to victim inquiries, assessing concerns, and determining program eligibility for victim assistance services;
Providing information to victims on schedule changes, status of defendant's pleas, results of trial, etc.;
Providing in-court support to victims during hearings and trials;
Obtaining services and assistance for victims through specific federal programs and funds;
Generating statistical and quantitative reports and analyses of program activity;
Manages the District's Fact Witness Program controlling general accounts for travel and lodging;
Recommends and revises District policies and procedures as needed concerning witness travel services.
Obtains services and assistance for witnesses through various federal programs and funding sources.
Responsibilities will increase and assignments will become more complex as your training and experience progress.
Requirements
- You must be a U.S. Citizen or National.
- You must be registered for Selective Service, if applicable.
- Time-in-Grade: Federal employees must meet time-in-grade requirements within 30 days after the closing date of this announcement.
- You must meet all qualification requirements within 30 days after the closing date of this announcement and before placement in the position.
Qualifications
GS-7: To be eligible at the GS-7 level, you must meet at least ONE of the following conditions, as defined below: Specialized Experience, Education, OR a combination of Education and Experience.
Specialized Experience: One full year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-5 level. Specialized experience is defined as having experience working directly with individuals who have experienced victimization - to include intimate partner/domestic violence, child exploitation (including cases involving sexual violence and child abuse imagery) and human trafficking performing the following types of duties: advocating on behalf of crime victims; providing information to victims in regards to status of cases and results of trials; providing in court support during hearings; and obtaining services and assistance for victims.
Education: One of the following types of education in a related field (e.g., Criminal Justice, Social Work, Psychology) OR 2 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree. Education at the graduate level must be in an accredited college or university and must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to perform the duties of the position.
GS-9: To be eligible at the GS-9 level, you must meet at least ONE of the following conditions, as defined below: Specialized Experience, Education, OR a combination of Education and Experience.

Interagency Career Transition Assistance Plan (ICTAP)- The ICTAP provides eligible displaced Federal competitive service employees with selection priority over other candidates for competitive service vacancies. Education
