You will serve as a PUBLIC AFFAIRS SPECIALIST in the MARINE CORPS ACTIVITY GUAM (MCAG) of MARINE CORPS BASE CAMP BLAZ.

Duties

You will analyze immediate and long-range community/governmental relations needs in all communities related to the mission of Marine Corps Activity Guam. You will coordinate with program managers to execute a collaborative region wide community relations/outreach program. You will assist in public relations activities by advising on the interests of local dignitaries and influential citizens. You will draft speeches, remarks, articles, and briefing material for the OIC, Deputy Commander, Chief of Staff, senior staff assistants and others appearing before public groups and briefing sessions. You will coordinate multiple activities and events with other area community relations officers, public affairs officials, other command points of contact, and local community and business representatives.

• This position may require travel to places within and outside the contiguous United States which could include remote or isolated sites. You may be required to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
• If eligible for permanent change of station, the appointee will be required to sign a transportation agreement to establish a Government time in service requirement of 12 months.

• This is a Mission Essential position. You will be required to ensure organization or facility continuity of operations and/or completion of tasks that are considered essential to the mission designated by a local or command decision.
• This position is subject to work an uncommon tour, including nights, weekends, and holidays to meet mission requirements. Overtime or night differential pay and/or unusual duty hours may be required.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-07 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Developing and coordinating community and/or governmental public relations programs; planning, writing, and preparing new stories/articles, creating video and audio presentations to support public relations effort in the community . Education

In lieu of specialized experience, you may qualify with the following education or combination of both education and experience:

master's or equivalent graduate degree

or

2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree

or

LL.B. or J.D., if related
