About the Position: This position is located with the US Army Sustainment Command, G1/Deputy Chief of Staff, Human Resources Management, Rock Island IL. ASC is a Major Subordinate Command of Army Materiel Command.
Duties
Serves as principal technical advisor to senior management on all aspects of human resource management programs, policies, and initiatives.
Develops long-range plans for Civilian and Military Human Resource programs affecting personnel management.
Manages directorate resources, including both financial and equipment.
Serves as the Deputy G1, Human Resources with direct oversight of a military and civilian workforce.
Exercises staff control and supervision over G-1 Division Chiefs with responsibility for a diverse workforce reflecting a wide variety of complex occupations and organizations.
Executes plans, policies, administration, and programs affecting personnel management spanning both military and civilian personnel.
Oversees various HR programs, and leads subordinate supervisors through changes in operational requirements and needs.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Incumbent must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret Security Clearance.
- Temporary duty travel of 10% may be required.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes supervising and managing civilian and/or military human resource operations; determining effective use of human capital, financial resources, and policies to improve human resource support; developing long-range HR plans, program operations, and projects necessary to accomplish organizational goals; providing technical advice and assistance to Commanders and senior management concerning personnel programs and policies; providing guidance regarding a wide variety of civilian and/or military HR programs (e.g. personnel readiness; retention; military assignments; awards; evaluations; separations; personnel actions; reserve component programs; training; promotions).
This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-13).
