The Organizational Location of the Position is Medicine Service, MEMPHIS VA Medical Center, Memphis, TN. Serve as a Program Support Assistant in the implementation of all matters pertaining to the daily operations of Medicine Service's Specialty/Subspecialty Care Programs. Daily operations include program administrative, analytical and clerical needs, customer service, budgets, reports, and all associated patient care programs.
Duties

The employee provides key day to day support for Specialty/Subspecialty Care Programs, Medicine Service to include coordination of administrative details and program support activities. Serves as liaison between the section chiefs, physicians, nurse practitioners, physician's assistants, nurses, technicians, and other healthcare providers; patients and patient's families. A. Management of Specialty/Subspecialty Care Programs includes but is not limited to:
- Serves as liaison between Section Chief and medical staff, patients and patient's families, and healthcare providers in other specialties. Works in collaboration with multispecialty team of healthcare professionals to assist patients and their families throughout the care continuum.
- Serves as main point of contact for multispecialty teams for requests for information or action within the medical center, patients, family members, other medical centers, and other individuals and organizations.
- Supports providers in the outpatient clinics (new, follow-up, VVC, telehealth) through management of clinic assignments and profiles, tracking patient wait times, and on-the-floor monitoring of clinic flow and efficiency. Develops plans of action to promote compliance with access targets, continuity of care, performance measures, and policies.
- Maintains copy of Accounting of Disclosures (sending faxes to outside providers that contain patient information.
- Faxes signed Release of Information form, H&P, Progress Notes, and Discharge Summary on inpatients/outpatients after discharge to their outside provider for Continuity of Care.
Work Schedule: Monday - Friday (8:00am - 4:30pm)

Qualifications
One (1) full year of specialized experience that equipped you with the knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties the Program Support Assistant at the full performance level (GS-6), and that is typically in or related to the position to be filled. To be creditable, specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the next lower grade level (GS-5) in the Federal service. Specialized experience is experience where you were responsible for providing administrative support; collecting, compiling and tracking data and information; processing documents and reports; establishing, updating and maintaining office files and records; performing automation duties using such software applications such as word processing, spreadsheet, electronic mail, desktop publishing, calendar, database and/or graphics; answering telephones, referring visitors, and providing information. Note: Experience must be fully documented on your resume and must include job title, duties, month and year start/end dates AND hour worked per week. - AND-
TYPING PROFICIENCY: This position requires the skills of a qualified typist. In addition to meeting the experience and/or education requirements, you must be able to type at least 40 words per minute.

Physical Requirements: The work is mainly sedentary. Typically, the employee sits comfortably to do the work. However, there is also daily walking, standing, bending, carrying of light items such as papers, books and small objects.
