You will serve as a SUPERVISORY POLICE OFFICER in the OPERATIONS DEPARTMENT (N3) of NAVBASE KITSAP SEC DET.
Duties
You will apprehend or detain individuals in accordance with regulations or laws.
You will conduct a search for criminal activity in buildings, warehouses, vehicles, vessels, aircraft, luggage, or other areas.
You will conduct security and protective services for installation buildings, living quarters, or members of the general public.
You will complete forms for documentation of events (e.g., issuing citations, interviewing witnesses)
You will identify law enforcement areas that need improvement to provide recommendations.
Requirements

- Must be determined suitable for federal employment.

- Generally, current federal employees applying for GS jobs must serve at least one year at the next lower grade level. This requirement is called time-in-grade. Time-in-grade requirements must be met by the closing date of this announcement.
- The DON does not employ individuals for Law Enforcement Officer positions who have been convicted of a crime of domestic violence on or after 27 November 2002. You must submit DD Form 2760, Qualification to Possess Firearms before appointment.
- You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
- You will be required to obtain and maintain a current valid United States driver's license.
- Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or pass the test. You will be subject to random testing.
- This position is considered Key/Emergency-Essential. You will be required to provide immediate and continuing support to ensure the success of combat operations or the availability of combat-essential systems.
- This position is covered by the Domestic Violence Misdemeanor Amendment (30 Sep 96) of the Gun Control Act (Lautenberg Amendment) of 1968. You will be required to sign a DD-Form-2760, Qualification to possess firearms or ammunition.
- Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.
- Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered for Selective Service.
- You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
- You must meet the qualifications and be certified to carry a firearm. You will need to maintain firearm proficiency.
- Supervisors in the executive branch have a heightened personal responsibility for advancing government ethics. You will be required to review the 14 General Principles of Ethical Conduct at 5 CFR 2635.101.
- Employee must successfully pass an initial, annual, or any required OPM, DoD, or DON mental and emotional stability screening, Physical Agility Test, and medical screening.
- This position does not meet the definition of Law Enforcement Officer (LEO) and is excluded from coverage as LEO for purposes of the Federal employment Retirement System-Base Annuity in accordance with 5 CFR, Part 842, and Subpart H.
- Must successfully complete U.S. Department of Homeland Security Federal Law Enforcement Training Academy Uniformed Police Training Program (UPTP) course and pass the Navy Physical Agility Test.
- You must be trained and qualified to conduct Guard Mount and pre/post watch training of other LE personnel before, during, and after the assigned shift.
Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-08) or pay band in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector performing duties such as: 1) Providing guidance on law enforcement and security policies and procedures; 2) Interviewing witnesses to crimes, accidents, or security breaches to determine facts, warrant apprehension, detention, or lesser action; 3) Resolving law enforcement issues; 4) Conducting searches to compile evidence of crime/accident scenes; 5) Reviewing reports for accuracy, discrepancies, and areas of concern. You must complete any annual sustainment training, level 1 Oleoresin Capsicum (OC) contamination training, and OC refresher training.
You must pass a pre-employment Physical Agility Test (PAT) and test annually.
You must qualify and maintain qualifications for assignment to Nuclear Fuels Security Force duties when directed for refueling and defueling (RF/DF) operations in accordance with NAVSEAINST 9210.22E. Qualifications are required prior to entry date.
