About the Position: The Walla Walla District US Army Corps of Engineers is comprised of motivated and talented employees providing the very best engineering services for communities in the Pacific Northwest. The District helps manage local water resources for navigation, flood damage reduction, disaster assistance, hydroelectric power generation, and other natural and heritage areas.

Duties

Ensure submittal (transmittals) registries for newly awarded contracts are properly loaded in the Resident Management System (RMS). Establish electronic contract folders for newly awarded contracts. Process Contractor's partial and final payment estimates. Assist in the preparation of contract closeouts. Perform or assist in the performance of general clerical support activities.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. GS-5 Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes (1) the use of office automation software; (2) retrieval, update, and storage of electronic data; AND (3) preparing, editing, and formatting correspondence. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-04). OR Education: Four years of education above the high school level obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide your semester hours of education beyond two years (total semester hours minus 60) by 60. Add the two percentages. GS-6 Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes (1) obtaining and/or verifying funds and/or payroll in a computerized program; (2) maintaining both manual and electronic records and files; AND (3) preparing, editing, and formatting correspondence. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-05 or above). GS-7 Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes (1) obtaining and/or verifying funds, payroll, and/or payments in a computerized program; (2) maintaining both manual and electronic records and files; (3) tracking contract milestones/deadlines in an electronic system. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-06 or above). Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For the GS-6 and GS-7, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Computer SkillsCustomer Service (Clerical/Technical) Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-4 for GS-5; GS-5 for GS-6; GS-6 for GS-7).
