This Secretary (Office Automation) position provides clerical/administrative support to the Insurance Claims Division as well as other staff members and employees in the Insurance Center of the Department of Veterans Affairs co-located in the Philadelphia Regional Office in Philadelphia, PA.
Duties
Receive telephone calls and greet visitors, give routine and non-routine information, answer questions and direct calls and visitors to the appropriate person or office.
Receive and respond to routine and non-technical requests for information such as status of reports, and maintain suspense records on all correspondence and action documents.
Prepare and type a variety of correspondence, reports, forms, requisitions, etc., using word processor or personal computer in final form.
Organize and maintain files, records, manuals, and handbooks.
Act as supply clerk for the division, making sure items are ordered and stocked.
Perform duties as personnel clerk for the division, which involves preparing requests for personnel actions, maintaining employee records, and serving as time keeper.
Maintain supervisor's calendar; schedule appointments and prepare notes regarding discussion topics; and make travel arrangements and prepare travel vouchers.

Time-in-grade: Applicants who are/were federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements. For a GS-6 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-5 level. To support your claim of time in grade, you must submit your most recent appointment, promotion, or within grade increase SF-50 (not an award or general adjustment SF-50). Specialized Experience:
To be creditable, specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the next lower grade level (GS-5) in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience include, but are not limited to:
