This position is located at the U.S. Mint, San Francisco Coining Division and performs various laboring and material handling duties requiring moderately heavy physical effort and the use of common hand tools, power equipment, and material handling equipment.
Duties
As a Material Handler, you will:
Load and unload heavy or bulky boxes, bins, supplies, materials, equipment, etc.; move items by hand, hand truck, or electric work saver to specified location; sorts and stacks items by obvious category.
Complete annual required inventory of hazardous materials, label hazardous materials, and set up hazardous material storage areas. Acquire, collect, and read Material Safety Data Sheets for all hazardous materials.
Inventory the drums of new alcohol and blank chemical solutions when the supplies of chemicals are low and inform the supervisor to order chemicals to support production in Material Treatment, Press Room and Die Polishing.
Collect and remove industrial waste, change chemical solutions used in cleaning coin blanks and clean tanks as required.
Operate chemical pumping station to second floor pressroom. Inspect pumping station piping for leaks or other deficient conditions and report these deficiencies.
Qualifications

The experience may have been gained in either the public, private sector or volunteer service.
