This position is located in the Clinical Informatics Department under the Chief of Staff Office at the Central Virginia VA Health Care System, Richmond, VA. This position serves as the Informatics Education Coordinator/Health Systems Training Specialist.
Duties
Major duties include but not limited to:
Support the VA Health Care System by coordinating, designing, implementing, evaluating and improving education and training materials, resources, courses, and activities for facility clinical information systems and related workflows.
Independently manages in-person training courses pertaining to Clinical Informatics, the Electronic Health Record (EHR), and other related health information systems.
Responsible for the coordination of training, such as scheduling and attendance records, as well as tracking completion of training and competency assessments for health care providers, clinical support staff, and administrative personnel for training provided.
Responsible for the development and maintenance of Microsoft SharePoint Online tools to facilitate training sessions, gather training feedback, track attendance and competency evaluations, and host educational materials.
Assists Clinical Application Coordinators and Data Analysts with testing and verification of health information systems including data and operations with the EHR and reporting systems.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Work Schedule: Monday - Friday 7:45am - 4:30pm

Qualifications
To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 01/22/2024.
Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-11 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-09. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement. In this instance, you must provide an additional SF-50 that clearly demonstrates one-year time-in-grade.

You may qualify based on your experience and/or education as described below:
Specialized Experience: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-09 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to: Organizes, compiles, summarizes, and analyzes the data collected and develops reports which reflect the scope of activities and identifies trends and opportunities for improvement; Provides training and troubleshooting for clinical and administrative staff in business processes and associated supporting software; Maintains records, prepares project administrative and statistical reports, assures compliance with review process, and monitors compliance with program requirements. OR,
Education: Applicants may substitute education for the required experience. To qualify based on education for this grade level you must have a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.M., if related. OR,
Combination: Applicants may also combine education and experience to qualify at this level. You must have a combination of specialized experience and education beyond a Master's degree.

Physical Requirements: The work is primarily sedentary. However, standing and walking for long periods of time may be required.
