About the Position: Fort McCoy is located in west-central Wisconsin, midway between Chicago and Minneapolis, just off Interstates 90 & 94. The family-friendly area offers excellent schools, outstanding outdoor recreation, and affordable housing. Management may select at either the GS-09 or GS-11 grade level.

Duties

Serves as unit service coordinator conducting unit needs assessments. Conduct training to soldiers and their family members to provide awareness of available support services. Counsel soldiers and family members to define their needs and identify services available to address emotional, financial and household support requirements. Consult with community leaders to establish ongoing relationships with businesses, employment services, financial institutions and universities. Manage databases and prepare reports to support program requirements. Conduct training to organization leaders and staff to provide awareness of support services available. Design marketing and public relations material for target audiences.

Basic Requirement: Degree: Bachelor's degree (or higher degree) in behavioral or social science, or related disciplines appropriate to the position, such as Psychology, Sociology, Counseling, or Social Work. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience that provided the applicant with knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field. OR Experience: Four years of appropriate experience that demonstrated that the applicant has acquired knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field. In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below: Specialized Experience: Qualifying Experience for the GS-11 grade level: One year of specialized experience which includes 1) interviewing, counseling, and/or advising on career, occupational, volunteer, or educational issues; 2) establishing and implementing installation quality of life programs (such as Relocation Readiness, Information and Referral, Employment Readiness, etc.) to meet the social welfare and cultural needs of military personnel, civilian employees, retirees, and family members. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09). OR Education: Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as: Psychology, Sociology, Counseling, or Social Work. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the second year (total graduate semester hours minus 36) by 18. Add the two percentages. Specialized Experience: Qualifying Experience for the GS-09 grade level: One year of specialized experience which includes 1) assisting with interviewing, counseling, and/or advising on career, occupational, volunteer, or educational issues; 2) support with the establishment and implementation of installation quality of life programs (such as Relocation Readiness, Information and Referral, Employment Readiness, etc), to meet the social welfare and cultural needs of military personnel, civilian employees, retirees, and family members. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07). OR Education: Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as: Psychology, Sociology, Counseling, or Social Work. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the first year (total graduate semester hours minus 18) by 18. Add the two percentages.
