About the Position: Performs a variety of administrative, clerical, personnel, procurement, budget, and office automation work. Based on knowledge of the organization and the services it provides, addresses needs/issues associated with the administrative and clerical work of the office. Located at the Upper Wabash Project Office, Salamonie Lake.

Duties

Serves as receptionist. Maintains office reports and records for file keeping. Ensures proper format of outgoing correspondence. Performs primary/ alternate timekeeping duties. Assists in the development of the serviced office’s operating budget. Maintains a Government Purchase Card. Initiates Request for Personnel Actions. Provides assistance in the in-processing of new employees. Prepares training requests and payments in accordance with office training plan. Coordinates travel, prepares travel orders and vouchers.

GS-05 Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes, utilizing various computer systems to access, input, track and maintain information; preparing various forms, correspondence, memorandums and reports following guides and regulations which prescribe the proper format for correct preparation; maintaining a record keeping system, performing mail distribution, and coordinating copier services. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-04). OR Education: Four years of education above the high school level obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide your semester hours of education beyond two years (total semester hours minus 60) by 60. Add the two percentages. GS-06 Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes performing procedural and administrative work in an office environment; preparing correspondence; maintaining files/records; making travel arrangements; maintaining inventory records for hand receipt accounts on property; making credit card purchases; gathering narrative and statistical budgetary data; prepare and monitor labor and fund requests; use an automated personnel database to initiate personnel actions; serve as timekeeper and or complete weekly labor reports. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-05). Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this grade level, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Customer Service (Clerical/Technical)Teamwork Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent. GS-05 - Must have 52 weeks at the GS-04 grade level. GS-06 - Must have 52 weeks at the GS-05 grade level.
