About the Position: Conduct public affairs program for Honolulu Engineer District (POH) with responsibilities to inform and educate the workforce, customers, senior officials and the public about POH programs, projects and activities throughout the Pacific.

Duties

Plan and carry out the Public Affairs Program for POH, whose mission is the development and protection of water resources and the design and construction of major national defense facilities. Prepare information and public affairs plans and executes those plans to achieve program and Corps-wide information objectives. Establish and maintain relationships and a communications network with counterparts of trade and mainstream journalists resulting in consistently balanced and accurate coverage of Corps activities. Develop, write or review informational material developed by others to reach state, national and regional audiences through a specific media or channels of communication for dissemination of information to a variety of publics. Give presentation in various forums (national conferences, local town hall meetings) to audiences internal and external to the Corps.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Temporary duty (TDY) travel is approximately 25%.
  • Incumbent must have or be able to obtain and maintain a secret security clearance.
  • Key Position IAW AR 690-11 shall not be vacated during a national emergency or mobilization. Incumbent must be exempted from recall to active duty of sustaining base operations during mobilization.
