This position is a Maintenance Worker Helper, WG-4749-5, working in Indiahoma, Oklahoma, for the Wichita Mountains Wildlife Refuge.

Duties
As a Maintenance Worker Helper, your duties will include, but are not limited to, the following:
Assist in lifting, carrying, holding materials and performing other related tasks in installing outdoor water systems, cleaning plugged water pipes and sewer lines.
Assist in the installation, repair and alteration of cabinets, doors, hardware (such as hinges, catches), interior trim i.e., sheetrock, baseboards, tile, linoleum. etc., by holding bracing materials, handling tools, materials or fittings.
Assist in mixing and pouring cement and in the construction of simple forms (such as walls, slabs, walkways, and curbs).
Prepare and paint interior and exterior building surfaces by scraping or brushing to remove old paint and applying new paint or sealant through use of brushes, rollers or sprayers.
Drive one or more types of trucks with rated weight capacities up to and including one ton in hauling cargo or passengers within government installations and over public roads.
Wash and fuel vehicles; perform such services as checking and changing oil and water; checking fluid levels in crankcases, power steering, transmissions, batteries, radiators, braking systems, etc.

Although no specific amount of experience, education or training is required, applicants must meet a minimum level of ability in relation to the position and the Assessment Questionnaire in order to be rated qualified for consideration. To be qualified candidates must meet any screen out element(s) listed at an "acceptable" level, and must achieve an average rating of at least "acceptable" on all of the elements. Only education, training, or experience acquired before the closing date will be considered.
SCREEN-OUT ELEMENT: Your qualifications will first be evaluated against the prescribed screen out element, which usually appears as question 1 in the on-line questionnaire. Those applicants who appear to possess at least the minimal acceptable qualification requirement are considered for further rating; those who do not are rated ineligible and are eliminated. The potential eligibles are then rated against the remainder of the Job Elements.
The screen out element for this position is: Ability to do the work of a Maintenance Worker Helper without more than normal supervision.
Knowledge to perform maintenance and repair of grounds, exterior structures, buildings, and related fixtures and utilities.
Ability to interpret instructions and specifications and follow safety practices.
Skill in using a variety of hand tools, such as wrenches, screwdrivers, hammers, shears, rakes, shovels.
Ability to operate vehicles, such as cars, trucks, and tractors.
