Joining the Secret Service, Office of Protective Operations, will allow you to support security assignments to mitigate threats and provide access control to facilities, protectee residences, and/or other special access areas used and/or owned by the Secret Service. Duties
The selectee will serve as a Protection Officer in the Office of Protective Operations. Typical work assignments include:

Qualifications
GS-7: You qualify for the GS-7 level (starting base salary $41,966) if you possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-6 level performing duties such as maintaining designated security posts; and patrolling, guarding, or managing visitor access.
GS-8: You qualify for the GS-8 level (starting base salary $46,475) if you possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-7 level performing duties such as maintaining designated security posts; patrolling, guarding, or managing visitor access; operating security monitoring devices (e.g., magnetometers and x-ray screening technology); and responding to various types of security situations (e.g., inappropriate or suspicious behavior or activity).
GS-9: You qualify for the GS-9 level (starting base salary $51,332) if you possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-8 level performing duties such as maintaining designated security posts; patrolling, guarding, or managing visitor access; operating security monitoring devices (e.g., magnetometers and x-ray screening technology); responding to various types of security situations (e.g., inappropriate or suspicious behavior or activity); developing reports for leadership outlining identified deficiencies; detaining persons; and detecting and identifying suspicious packages.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
