This position is for the Medical Supply Distribution (MSD) areas of the Logistics Service and supported catchment area. This position ensures that supplies and materials are distributed to all areas serviced by Logistics. Leads 3 or more GS-2005 employees in the distribution area to provide sterile and non-sterile medical supplies, instrument sets and equipment.
Duties
Distributes and balances the workload among employees in accordance with established workflow or job specialization and assures timely accomplishment of assigned workload.
Monitors status and progress of work, makes day-to-day adjustments in accordance with established priorities. Obtains assistance from the supervisory on problems that may arise.
Estimates and reports on expected tie of completion of work.
Instructs employees in specific tasks and job techniques and make available written instructions, reference materials and supplies.
Gives on the job training to the new employees in accordance with established procedures and practices.
Resolves simple, informal complaints of employees and refers other to supervisor.
Maintains stock at primary and secondary inventory locations for all clinical and administrative services.
Monitors expiration dates, rotates stock to limit outdates and removes items from use as required.
Ensures critical supplies are appropriately monitored and controlled, resolving deviations when possible, and escalating significant deviations to the Inventory Management Specialists.
As needed, assists in other functional areas of the Section and performs other duties as assigned.
Work Schedule: 7:30 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. or 3:30 p.m. - 12 midnight or 12 midnight - 8:30 a.m. Rotating Shifts

Qualifications
To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 01/18/2024.
Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-06 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-05. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement. In this instance, you must provide an additional SF-50 that clearly demonstrates one-year time-in-grade. Note: Time-In-Grade requirements also apply to former Federal employees applying for reinstatement as well as current employees applying for Veterans Employment Opportunities Act of 1998 (VEOA) appointment.
You may qualify based on your experience and/or education as described below:
Specialized Experience: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-05 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to: Experience with the distribution of supplies and materials in assigned areas to include sterile and non-sterile medical supplies, instrument sets, and equipment; Monitoring expiration dates, rotating stock to limit outdates and removing items from use required by outdates; Coordinating work activities to resolve operating issues pertaining to clinical and administrative supply management requirements; Utilizing the automated point of use inventory system (Omnicell or similar), as well as the parent inventory system to monitor issues and receipts in support of stock replenishment processes.

Physical Requirements: The work requires standing and walking during the entire workday, and frequent reaching, bending and lifting of supply packages (occasionally weighing as much as 50 pounds). Work requires pushing loaded carts of medical supplies (weighing in excess of 100+ pounds). With proper assistance, moves heavier items' weighing over 40 pounds.
