This position performs as the Environmental Health Coordinator (EHC) is responsible for the management of VA's Environmental Health programs, under the direction of the Post-Deployment Health Services (PDHS) at the Mann-Grandstaff VAMC in Spokane, WA.
Duties

Duties may include, but are not limited to the following:
Serves as a subject matter expert on environmental exposures.
Attends Post Deployment Health Services/War Related Illness and Injury Study Center Environmental Health Clinicians and Coordinators Education Conference, Webinars and other training to increase knowledge about exposures to environmental hazards.
Provides detailed information to Veterans and their family members on environmental exposures during military service and associated health effects.
Develops and displays educational program information for various environmental issues and health outcomes related to military exposures.
Disseminates information on Environmental Health programs to Veterans and their family members, to VA staff and other interested parties via health fairs, newsletters, fact sheets, websites, etc.
Possesses thorough and comprehensive knowledge of available resources to identify, gather, and calculate the specific requested information for unique targeted inquiries.
Ensures follow-up letters have been generated to Veterans communicating the results of their registry exams and any recommended follow-up.
Establishes Veteran's health records to include registry examination data, treatment, updates, retains and modifies these records subject to retention and disposition policies.
Maintains daily contacts (face-to-face, telephone, e-mail, correspondence, etc.) with Veterans, family members, Veterans Service Organization, public officials to explain VA policies and procedures.
Keeps EH clinician and other administrative staff informed on all matters pertaining to daily office functioning and alerts the EH clinician and other administrative staff on concerns related to office management.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:00am-4:30pm

Qualifications
To qualify at the GS-7 level, you must meet one of the following:
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Have at least one (1) year of experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities (KSA's) to perform successfully the duties of the position and that is typically in or related to the Program Assistant (Environmental Health), GS-7 to be filled. To be creditable, the specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the next lower grade level (GS-06) in federal service. Specialized experience includes providing detailed information to customers; creating and displaying educational materials; gathering information for inquiries; entering information into databases; and assisting with other administrative duties. NOTE: Experience must be fully documented on your resume and must include job title, duties, month and year start/end dates AND hours worked per week.

IMPORTANT: A full year of work is considered to be 35-40 hours of work per week. All experience listed on your resume must include the month and year start/end dates. Physical Requirements: The work requires some physical exertion such as periods of walking, standing or sitting within the assigned clinic areas. Some bending, climbing of stairs and lifting of medical records or forms/supplies is required. The quantity and variety of clinical staff contacts require that the position can respond to multiple complex issues and establish priority as the situation demands.
