The Nursing, Operations Service at the Malcom Randall VA Medical Center is recruiting a Program Assistant. The incumbent of this position provides appropriate program assistance to Nursing Service of North Florida/South Georgia Healthcare System (NF/SGVHS), The assistance will be provided to Nursing Leadership between the two medical centers within the healthcare system.

Duties

The Program Assistant position provides appropriate program assistance to Nursing Service of North Florida/South Georgia Healthcare System (NF/SGVHS), The assistance will be provided to Nursing Leadership between the two medical centers within the healthcare system. Duties include but are not limited to: Uses office automation systems and various Microsoft Office packages and programs to accomplish work. Receives visitors and telephone calls for internal and external customers and independently makes referrals based on inquiries. Obtains, organizes, files, and retrieves reports, correspondence, and numerical data for use in preparing status reports, briefings, and presentations. Processes incoming and outgoing materials such as correspondence, reports, memorandums, action items, bulletins, and other forms of written communication with the ability to decipher importance. Research, collect, compile, and generate reports for Annual and ad hoc reports, and leadership; for comparison and status purposes. Maintains database of open tasks, follows up on suspense items and advises the Chief Nurse of delinquencies. Provides assistance to the Nursing Leadership in performing analyses and/or evaluation of operating program characteristics. Assists in conducting surveys of North Florida/South Georgia nursing programs. Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 7:00am to 3:30pm OR 7:30am to 4:00pm Telework: VA supports the use of telework as a way to help attract and retain talented individuals in public service, increase worker productivity, and better prepare the agency to operate during emergencies. This position may be authorized for ADHOC telework. Telework eligibility will be discussed during the interview process. Virtual: This is not a virtual position. To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 01/17/2024. Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-06 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-05. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement. In this instance, you must provide an additional SF-50 that clearly demonstrates one-year time-in-grade. Note: Time-In-Grade requirements also apply to former Federal employees applying for reinstatement as well as current employees applying for Veterans Employment Opportunities Act of 1998 (VEOA) appointment. Typing Requirement: This position has a typing requirement of 40 words per minute. Applicants must meet the specialized experience. You may qualify based on your experience as described below: GS-06 grade level: One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-05 grade level in the federal service; experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities (KSA's) and other characteristics to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled, in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Specialized experience includes: Uses office automation systems and various Microsoft Office packages and programs (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) to accomplish work. Receives visitors and telephone calls for internal and external customers and independently makes referrals based on inquiries. Composes, edits and reviews correspondence and presentations ensuring format, completeness, and accuracy. Processes incoming and outgoing materials such as correspondence, reports, memorandums, action items, bulletins, and other forms of written communication with the ability to decipher importance.
