Serves as the Deputy Director for Mission Support (MS). Supports the director by maintaining management and technical awareness of the MS directorate's workforce, operations, goals and objectives. Supervises or provides direction for all MS staff. Ensures that budgets are properly planned and implemented in accordance with Agency guidelines. Works all issues in a timely manner, develops options for resolution and provides periodic updates to senior management.

Duties

Serves as the Deputy Director for Mission Support (MS). Supports the director of Mission Support by maintaining management and technical awareness of the Mission Support directorate’s workforce, operations, goals and objectives. Serves as the Safety, Security, and Mission Services (SSMS) Cost Account Manager (CAM) as the operational CAM for the SSMS account, which contains the Center Engineering Safety and Operations and Infrastructure and Technical Capabilities budgets. Provides administrative leadership, direction, and guidance to personnel in the following Mission Support directorate functions: Facilities, Logistics, Environmental Management, Medical, Procurement, and Protective Services. Supports the development, implementation, and sustainment of the Mission Support Directorate Strategic Plan and oversees the execution of the goals and objectives. Oversees the delivery of Mission Support Services in order to maximize mission support and minimize unscheduled major outages and mission impacts. Serves as a member of the Center Management Board (CMB) representing the Mission Support community. Ensures proposed and existing center commitments address mission support resource requirements. Ensures the budgets are properly planned and implemented in accordance with Agency guidelines. Provides senior management with decision quality information and actionable options for budget issues, as necessary. Perform a full range of supervisory duties which includes assigning and evaluating work; recommending personnel actions; taking disciplinary actions; and identifying training needs and developing employees. Requirements

  • Current Federal employees must meet qualifications, time in grade, and 90 days after competitive appointment requirements by the closing date of the announcement.

Qualifications

Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular ability, skill, and knowledge to successfully perform the duties of this position and is typically in or related to this line of work. To qualify for GS-15, you must have one year of directly related specialized experience equivalent to the GS-14 level: Leading a team or project providing oversight in at least one of the following areas: Facilities, Logistics, Environmental Management, Information Technology, Human Resources, Protective Services, Financial Management, Procurement, or Engineering; Overseeing budget planning and implementation in accordance with Agency guidelines and policies, identifying budget issues in a timely manner, recommending resolution and providing periodic updates to senior management; and Establishing personnel performance criteria, assessing personnel performance, and conducting performance reviews.
