The position is assigned to Engineering Service, Maintenance and Operation Section, HVAC Shop. The position will install, maintain, troubleshoot, repair and calibrate electronic controls and indicating and recording systems throughout the CAVHS campus, or any one of the eight different Community Based Outpatient Clinics located across the state. The position is subject to be called back during off duty hours for irregular or emergency situations.

Duties

Performs major repairs, minor improvements and modifications to existing equipment and structures. Writes plans, layouts, sketches and estimates of time and materials for assigned repairs, preventative maintenance and minor improvements. Repairs and evaluates the EMCS its subsystems and components by use of multi-meters, manometers, temperature sensors, hygrometers, anemometers, logic diagrams, as-built electronic control drawings, electronic schematics and manufacturer's literature. Operates, maintains and modifies to optimize efficiency and energy savings, while maintaining environmental functions , i.e., temperature, humidity, ventilation and fire and smoke damper at proper levels for patient care and other facility operations. Evaluates the EMCS its subsystems and components for cause and failure. Conducts programming, physical and virtual points, trending, graphing, scheduling equipment for operation and data collection and reporting. Operates building level control systems that are highly complex, computerized central environmental monitoring and control systems. Understanding building level network controllers to operate specific equipment and components on the facilities building service equipment using line code programming. Comprehends operating programming and performing repairs to the on-campus BAS network. Cuts, brazes and solders piping, wiring and circuit boards. Works with other journeyman, workers, or helpers to accomplish repairs or Preventative Maintenance Inspections (PMI). Provides on-the-job training to all Operations Unit Air Conditioning Mechanics as well as Utility Systems Repairer-Operators as it relates to the Building Automated System controls functions. Troubleshoots highly complex systems of electronic sensing and control such as the Siemens Apogee Insight system and the Trane Tracer Ensemble, which are operating systems that control the building's Energy Management System, main Chiller Plants and Boiler Plants and the whole building environmental system operation by direct digital controls and line code programming. Inputs and closes out work orders. Maintains all electronic circuits for air-conditioning plants, chill and hot water multi-building loop systems, and display systems. Operating programming and performing repairs to the on-campus BAS network as well as an interpretation of engineering drawings to trace signal flow through the system while troubleshooting malfunctions. Reviews construction plans, verifies their correctness and provides feedback regarding building automation controls consistency and ease of maintenance and expandability. Provides ideas to reduce energy usage through awareness of energy conservation measures and a command of the various control system programming and software tools. All other duties assigned by management. Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 7:00 am to 3:30 pm, subject to change based on needs of the Agency. Employees frequently lift, carry, or otherwise handle items weighing up to 18 kilograms (40 pounds). Occasionally they handle items greater than 18 kilograms. Assistance is usually available with heavy items. They work in a sitting position for extended periods. Frequent standing, walking, bending, crouching, reaching, and stooping is required. Occasionally, climbing and work in high places may be required.
