This position is located in the Veteran Transportation Service (VTS) of the VA Medical Center in Anchorage, AK.
Duties

Performing work involving consult management, appointment scheduling, and admissions scheduling;
Collecting, compiling, and tracking data and statistical information;
Analyzing data and generating reports;
Evaluating documents such as sampling plans, permit applications, and data collection forms;
Aggregating data from a variety of sources;
Reviewing documents, reports, and/or applications for omissions and inconsistencies and ensuring data entry is complete and accurate;
Entering patient information into an automated tracking system;
Coordinating services in a manner that decreases patient wait times and delays;
Administering quality monitors to measure the success of efforts in providing seamless care and to support the education of staff in the proper use of the electronic medical record;
Planning, organizing, administering, and directing how the work will be accomplished for the travel program;
Validating the workload of the program to ensure reporting is accurate;
Responding to notifications requiring action, verifying patient primary providers;
Coordinating the workflow, processes, and functions of the program;
Planning and providing support in areas such as electronic records management, driver scheduling, and space utilization;
Providing advise to operating managers and supervisors related to patient travel;
Performing related duties as required.
Work Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8:00am - 4:30pm.

Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS GS-06: One year of specialized experience that equipped you with the knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of this position, and that is typically in or related to the position. To be creditable, specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the GS-05 grade level in Federal service. Specialized experience includes: providing efficient and courteous customer service; maintaining effective working relationships; retrieving, collecting, and compiling data; and utilizing database management systems/software. This experience must be detailed in your resume to receive credit.

IMPORTANT: A full year of work is considered to be 35-40 hours of work per week. All experience listed on your resume must include the month and year start/end dates. Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities. Physical Requirements: The Transportation Assistant will be exposed to stressful working situations that require a professional attitude and collective reasoning. The position entails a high volume of work, the need for accuracy, frequency of interruptions, and ever-changing demands. Duties are predominantly performed in an office environment with intermittent trips to various locations throughout the medical center's catchment area both in and near patient care areas where there may be risk of exposure to disease.
