Duties

In this position you will serve as a Mission Support Specialist (Generalist) providing senior level advice in an all administrative specialty area(s) related to the missions and functions of the Air and Marine Operations (AMO) Region/Branch/Unit. This position starts at a salary of $73,858.00 (GS-11, Step 1) to $96,012.00 (GS-11, Step 10) with promotion potential to $115,079 (GS-12, Step 10). Major duties include but are not limited to. Performing a variety of administrative, research, and analytical duties and special assignments related to the mission support functions within the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP), Air and Marine Operations (AMO). Interpreting guidelines to include DHS, CBP, AMO specific directives, policies and procedures primarily pertaining to Property & Fleet, Budget, Human Capital, Badges and Credentials, Worker's Compensation, Purchase Card, Travel, and all other areas of Mission Support. Using judgment in choosing, interpreting, applying and modifying available guidelines for adaptation to specific problems or issues. Understanding of quantitative and qualitative methods and techniques to develop and modify budget requirements for mission requirements.

Experience: You qualify for the GS-11 grade level if you possess 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level, performing duties such as: Providing support on a wide range of concepts, laws, policies and practices assisting in contributing to management decisions for assigned program areas. Preparing personnel status reports, summaries and briefings; verifying the accuracy and completeness of information. Briefing management on various budget issues; recommending resolutions to budgetary issues. Assisting with inventory or local property; assisting with facility needs and repairs; monitoring the progress of ongoing projects. Processing and analyzing data obtained from financial reports; calculating projections for funding allocations; paying invoices in a timely manner; resolving vendor issues as needed. Education Substitution: A Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree, 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.M., if related. Education at the graduate level in an accredited college or university in the amounts shown in the table meets the requirements for positions at GS-7 through GS-11. Such education must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work. One year of full-time graduate education is considered to be the number of credit hours that the school attended has determined to represent 1 year of full-time study. If that information cannot be obtained from the school, 18 semester hours should be considered as satisfying the 1 year of full-time study requirement. Combining Education and Experience: Combinations of successfully completed post-high school education and experience may be used to meet total qualification requirements for the grade levels specified in the table, and may be computed by first determining your total qualifying experience as a percentage of the experience required for the grade level; then determining the your education as a percentage of the education required for the grade level; and then adding the two percentages. The total percentages must equal at least 100 percent to qualify you for that grade level. Only graduate education in excess of the amount required for the next lower grade level may be used to qualify applicants for positions at grade GS-11. More information on this qualification standard is located here Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. You must: Meet all qualification requirements, including education if applicable to this position, subject to verification at any stage of the application process; and Meet all applicable Time in Grade requirements (current federal employees must have served 52 weeks at the next lower grade or equivalent grade band in the federal service) by 01/16/2024. The Office of Personnel Management (OPM) must authorize employment offers made to current or former political appointees. Current and former federal employees may be required to serve or complete a probationary period.
