About the Position: The primary purpose of this position is to serve as an Engineering Technician performing tasks to ensure the infrastructure of the installation is maintained, operable,and running efficiently.
Duties
Serves as a Construction Quality Assurance Evaluator and/or a Contracting Officer Representative on construction projects.
Utilize building codes, industry standards, and Installation Design Guide to design and inspect projects that are cost effective, conserve water and energy, and meet the requirements of the Installation and the Strategic Plan.
Consults with higher graded employee or project engineers who provide engineering guidance and assistance.

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes a) wide range of specialized methods, principles, and techniques sufficient to inspect construction and service projects.; b) construction building codes and contract specifications to evaluate and interpret contractor deviation requests.; and c) Computer-Aided Design (CAD) technology, Geographical Information Systems (GIS), and other windows based
programs. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-08).

Education: Four year course of study leading to a bachelor's degree (a) with major study in an appropriate field of engineering, construction, or industrial technology; OR (b) that included at least 24 semester hours in any combination of courses such as engineering, engineering or industrial technology, construction, physics, drafting, surveying, physical science, or mathematics.

Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide your semester hours of education beyond two years (total semester hours minus 60) by 60. Add the two percentages.

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-08).
