You will serve as a INSTRUCTIONAL SYSTEMS SPECIALIST of CENTER FOR SERVICE SUPPORT.

Duties

You will review course control documents under development or revision before final submission to the Training Directorate Head for approval. You will determine the tasks or skills that can be effectively and efficiently supported by job or skill performance aids. You will provide guidance on the use of educational technology and other advanced methodologies for instructional courses, programs, or projects. You will plan, develop, and implement a comprehensive test item analysis and feedback program that incorporates course testing plan approval. You will evaluate instructional aids (e.g., audiovisual materials, charts, diagrams) to determine instructional value, applicability, relevance and cost effectiveness.

  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.

Qualifications

In addition to the Basic Requirements for this position, your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Reviewing curriculum materials to ensure accuracy and currency; 2) Coordinating with personnel on instructional programs; 3) Monitoring training program to ensure objectives are met; and 4) Developing solutions to instructional program design and development issues. Education

Applicants must meet the following positive education qualifications requirements of the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualifications Standards Manual: Applicants must possess a 4 year course of study in an accredited college or university leading to a bachelor's or higher degree that included or was supplemented by at least 24 semester hours appropriate to the work of the position. My course work included study in at least four of the five following areas: 1) Learning theory, psychology of learning, educational psychology: Study of learning theories as they relate to the systematic design, development, and validation of instructional material. 2) Instructional design practices: Study of the principles and techniques used in designing training programs, developing design strategy and models, and applying design methods to the improvement of instructional effectiveness. 3) Educational evaluation: Study of the techniques for evaluating the effectiveness of instructional/educational programs, including developing written and performance tests and survey instruments, and determining reliability and validity of evaluation instruments. 4) Instructional product development: Study of the techniques appropriate for developing training materials, including identifying learner characteristics, specifying objectives, applying training strategy, validating training materials, and evaluating training. 5) Computers in education and training: Study of the application of computers in education and training, including selecting appropriate computer software.
