Duties

If selected for this position, you will serve as the Supervisory Information Technology (IT) Specialist for the United States Attorney's Office for Western District of Washington. You will be responsible for independently planning, designing, executing, and supervising Information Technology (IT) programs, projects, and work involving a variety of IT specialty areas which support the information management needs of the District. Typical work assignments will include: Maintaining district wide responsibility for testing, quality assurance, configuration, installation, implementation, maintenance, and management of networked systems used for the transmission of information in data, voice and/or video format; Managing accounts, network rights, and access to systems and equipment; Implementing policies and procedures to ensure information systems reliability and accessibility and to prevent and defend against unauthorized access to systems, networks, and data; Providing customer support services including installation, configuration, troubleshooting, customer assistance, and training in response to user requirements; Planning work to be accomplished by subordinates, setting goals and priorities, and preparing schedules for completion of work; and Identifying and addressing IT workforce planning and management issues, such as recruitment, retention, and training.

Requirements

  • You must be a U.S. Citizen or National.
  • Initial appointment is conditioned upon a satisfactory pre-employment adjudication. This includes fingerprint, credit and tax checks, and drug testing. Continued employment is subject to a favorable adjudication of a background investigation.
  • You must be registered for Selective Service, if applicable.
  • If selected, you may be required to complete a one year probationary period.
  • If selected, you will be subject to the satisfactory completion of a one year supervisory or managerial probationary period unless this requirement has been met previously.
  • Time-in-Grade: Federal employees must meet time-in-grade requirements within 30 days after the closing date of this announcement.
  • You must meet all qualification requirements within 30 days after the closing date of this announcement and before placement in the position.

Qualifications

In order to qualify for this position, you must demonstrate possession of each of the following basic competencies AND at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 level in Federal Service, as defined below: Basic competencies: Attention to Detail, Customer Service, Oral Communication, and Problem Solving. Specialized Experience is defined as experience providing technical and analytical assistance which support the information needs of an agency or public sector organization. Examples of specialized experience include: evaluating and resolving hardware and software problems and adapting precedents or making significant departures from standardized approaches to meet user requirements; planning and designing system architecture, developing functional systems requirements, and maintaining network architecture and infrastructure; implementing policies to ensure information systems reliability and accessibility; and monitoring functionality, security and integrity of internet services. Interagency Career Transition Assistance Plan (ICTAP)- The ICTAP provides eligible displaced Federal competitive service employees with selection priority over other candidates for competitive service vacancies.
