Duties

The Hollings Manufacturing Extension Partnership (MEP) is based at NIST and its mission is to enhance the productivity and technological performance of U.S. manufacturing. MEP is a public-private partnership. Through its collaborations at the federal, state and local level, MEP Centers work with manufacturers to develop new products and customers, expand and diversify markets, adopt new technology, and enhance value within supply chains. The MEP Program serves as a bridge to other organizations and federal research labs that share a passion for enhancing the manufacturing community. If hired as the Industrial Specialistfor the MEP group, your duties will include: Supporting the supplier development process for MEP Centers in concert with strategic partners. Assisting the supply chain team to identify current and future trends of manufacturing with particular focus on the needs and barriers to adoption of the SME market supply chain gaps. Helping build and support a supply chain intelligence network. Researching, analyzing and preparing written documents such as supply chain assessment reports, presentations, briefing packages, and other materials for use by management. Leveraging the collective knowledge, skills, and service delivery capacity of the MEP National Network in concert with strategic partners to generate supplier development opportunities. Helping develop strategic alliances and partnerships with Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) and trade associations to support U.S. manufacturers. Enabling MEP leadership to identify practices for supply chain optimization and creating an intelligence network across the MEP National Network. Promoting strong internal communication/coordination with other MEP divisions to understand the needs of local MEP Center needs and identity collaboration opportunities.

Qualifications

ZA-III: To qualify at the ZA-III level, you must have at least 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-11 level (ZA-II at NIST). Specialized experience is defined as experience: Helping to develop and implement program priorities and initiatives, interpreting and defining project objectives, recommending solutions, exercising professional leadership, and defending recommendations. Demonstrating programmatic impact to advance manufacturing and new market entries. Collaborating within and outside an organization to help take actions related to improving supply chain optimization and resiliency. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done. We will credit all qualifying volunteer experience in your application.
